2K10 New Orleans Alumni Chapter New Initiates Henderson Lewis, Jr. Henderson Lewis, Jr., was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is a native of St. Bernard Parish. His college education includes a Bachelors’ degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Southern University at New Orleans in 1996, a Masters’ degree in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans in 1999 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the College of Education at Mississippi State University in 2004. Dr. Lewis currently serves as the principal of Algiers Technology Academy and the Chief Financial Officers for Corrine Missionary Baptist Church. He also was elected to the St. Bernard Parish School Board in 2007, where he represents District 9. As a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, he will dedicate his time and talent to assist the organization in its overall mission and vision. Charles Wheeler Charles Rodney Wheeler II was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. His father Charles Rodney Wheeler Senior pledged Kappa Alpha Psi at the Epsilon Pi chapter. Charles graduated from Amarillo High School in 2002. He is a productive graduate of Prairie View A & M University and was a member of the Marching Storm. He earned his Master’s degree in Engineering in 2008 and his B.S. in Architecture in 2006. Currently he is working as a Civil Engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers in New Orleans Louisiana. Charles joined Kappa Alpha Psi to follow in his fathers footsteps and achieve in every field of human endeavor. Dante Green Dante’ Green was born and raised in Vallejo, CA and graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana as a Psychology Pre-Med major in 2008. He is currently studying Health Administration at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. One of the most influential men in his life was a Kappa man, his varsity football coach. He instilled in him the work ethic and perseverance necessary to be successful in the real world. Joining Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated has been a fruitful experience. He continues to learn from the exceptional men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. Working along side the distinguished members of the New Orleans Alumni Chapter has allowed him to grow both socially and professionally. I thoroughly enjoy participating in the initiatives here at the New Orleans Alumni Chapter and look forward to many active years in the bond. Marcel Harris Marcel E. Harris was born on July 15, 1986 to Marcia and Marshall Harris. From birth, Marcel was destined for greatness as his name means “Great warrior”. His mother always instilled in him that through God anything in life was possible. Marcel has always been involved in his community, wherever it may have been. As a young man he mentored youth groups in his home church, Tabernacle of David in Vallejo, CA. as a youth supervisor. Now, more mature and a little older, he is even more involved. A 2009 graduate from Dillard University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Systems Management , he has devoted himself to a life of service through the medical field. At Dillard, he is active in various organizations, including; Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Pre Alumni Council and Prince Hall Masonry. His most recent endeavor was the chartering of the Collegiate 100 Black Men of Dillard University, which is a community service based organization for males, whose focus is the mentoring of youth. Being a member of Kappa Alpha Psi has always been a lifelong dream for Marcel. His interest was sparked as a young child, he was a member of the guide right program implemented through his church by way of his uncle and mentor Nicholas McCray, a ’96 initiate to the Upsilon chapter. As a member of Kappa, Marcel plans to assist in taking New Orleans Alumni to the next level. His dream is to see that one day there is no Kappa who doesn’t or hasn’t heard about the good works of New Orleans Alumni. Marcel currently works for the City of New Orleans in the Health Department, as an Environmental Specialist. He plans to further his academic career by attending graduate school receiving his masters in Healthcare Quality. Okla Jones Okla Jones, III was born and raised in the nation's melting pot of New Orleans, LA, on July 16, 1986. After attending the prestigious St. Augustine High, he migrated to Virginia and enrolled in Hampton University where he later received his Bachelor of Arts in History in 2009. Okla's father; Okla Jones, II and his uncle; Paul Carmon where both members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The drive for success as well as the compassion that the brothers of KAPPA possessed, was a driving force in guiding Okla to becoming a member of the fraternity. He will be attending Southern Law School next fall, and his aspirations are to promote and help the members of KAPsi, along with his fellow man in any way possible.
