Dallas Event Offers Opportunity to Create
Family Emergency Plans

What:
Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) “ Ready or Not? Have A Plan”
Dallas events. This interactive educational tour offers people a chance to create
family emergency plans and learn about emergency preparedness in their
communities. The tour, which includes 13 stops between Oct. 29 and Nov. 15, is part
of the “Ready or Not? Have a Plan” campaign launched by DSHS Oct. 29 to
encourage Texans to prepare for disasters.
When:
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, Dallas
Media availability 10:30 a.m. each day including interviews and visuals of the Plan
Van, outdoor tent, sample emergency kit, other emergency planning supplies and
computer kiosks where people can build their personalized plans
Where:
Wal-Mart parking lot at 1521 N. Cockrell Hill Rd. , Dallas on Nov. 11, and WalMart parking lot at 7401 Samuell Blvd. , Dallas on Nov. 12

Dr. James Zoretic, DSHS regional medical director, Arlington ; Zachary Thompson,
Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) director; Jennifer McMillian,
DCHHS Public Health Preparedness director; Kenny Shaw and Caleb Bentley, City
of Dallas; and representatives of the Governor's Division of Emergency
Management, American Red Cross and other public health and emergency response
agencies

Disasters can happen anywhere, at any time in Texas. The time to plan is now, before
a disaster hits.
