The Extended Application is defined as the “application and extension of knowledge and skills in new and complex situations related to the student's personal and career interests and post-high school goals.” (OAR 581-022-0102) The Westview Senior Project fulfills this state requirement. Scope of Senior Project There are no rigid guidelines specifying the complexity and scope of the project aside from that it must extend your knowledge in some area and relate to your post high school goals. It can be as straight forward or as challenging as you are inspired to make it. The project is expected to take at least 20 hours. This Proposal Form is due October 17th in the Counseling and Career Center. It will be reviewed and signed by Westview staff. Copies will be returned to student. Projects that are not approved will need to be resubmitted. The proposal includes a timeline to help you plan and track your project. Some tips for a good proposal: Individual projects only. Group projects will not be scored. Avoid fundraising projects. While there are many worthy causes, it is difficult to make a convincing case that fundraising is a career goal. Furthermore, it is easy to over-saturate the Westview community with fundraisers. Lastly, there are many regulations governing fundraising on our campus. Students are often unaware of them until it is too late. The auditorium may NOT be used for any presentations or recitals. Project Display You are required to set up your display on Monday April 20th between 7am and 3pm in the Upper Gym. Your final reflection must accompany the display.
