Emma's Yoga and Massage Autumn 2015 Newsletter Hello Everyone! Here is my quarterly round-up of all things yoga and massage related which may be of interest to you. It’s been a hectic Summer what with trekking, injuries and sleeping in a tent during thunderstorms so I’m looking forward to the new term of teaching and therapies! Hope you’ve had a lovely Summer and are raring to go- here is the news... Ibiza Yoga Retreat 2015 A big thank you to all my Ibiza yogis for making my second yoga retreat a wonderful chance to teach Ashtanga Primary Series and spend time with you all. It was so rewarding to see your practice really developing during the week. Whether soldiering on through storms, swimming in the sea, jumping off cliffs or lounging in the sun, I’m sure you’ll agree,it was an experience! Have a look out for pics on my website…. Yoga Retreats 2016 My retreat to Crete in May 2016 is now full so thanks to everyone who has booked. I am now taking bookings for my retreat in Dalyan Delta, Turkey which takes place on the 3rd-10th October 2016 and costs £450 shared room and £495 single occupancy. Again, a full description can be found under ‘Retreats’ on my website. The location is stunning and is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, all meals, accommodation and yoga are included in the price! I only have 15 places on this retreat so let me know if you’d like to book and then contact Debby or Jilly at Free Spirit Travel and they will give you all the assistance you need. I have brochures available with all the contact details on if you’d like to get one in class or when you see me. Workshops Workshops scheduled for September and October are: Yoga for Women’s Health, Pick n Mix 3 hour Yogathon in aid of Teesside Hospice, Strength in Asana, Ashtanga Yoga Full Primary Series and Yoga for Arthritis. If you have signed up for these workshops but have yet to make your payment, please do so asap to secure your place. If you’d like to book any of them- let me know. My full workshops schedule can be found under ‘Workshops’ on my website with further details about each one. All of these workshops will be taking place at Sunnyfield House, Guisborough and cost £15 each with the exception of the Yogathon which costs £25 including a smoothie. Juices and Smoothies In a bid to raise more money for Teesside Hospice I have asked Kat Wills at ‘A Touch of Serenity’ to supply juices and smoothies to my students and therapy clients with £1 from the sale of each juice going to the charity. So far they have been a big hit and as such Kat has expanded her Yogi Juices menu –there should be something for everyone! . If you have any classes at ‘A Touch of Serenity’, Rye Hills school, any workshop or you come to my house for yoga or a therapy you are eligible to order from the list. I ask for orders to be in by 3pm on Friday so Kat can get her ingredients and get to work. The juices are delicious and of course highly nutritious- my personal favourites are the ‘Super Yogi’ and ‘Clean and Green’. The ginger shots are great for warming your system and warding off any Autumn sniffles. Thanks to those of you who have already entered the Autumn Yoga Raffle- 6 different Yogic prizes! Entries cost a £1 each and you can enter as many times as you like. The draw will be at the end of the ‘Yoga for Arthritis’ aka ‘The Arthritic Workshop’ (thanks Adrienne and Hazel!) on Saturday 24th October. Don’t worry if you’re not coming to this workshop- I’ll contact all winners on the day and with a total of how much we have raised for the hospice. Thank you so much to those of you who have already donated at my 'Everydayhero' supporters page in aid of Teesside Hospice. I have set myself the challenge of raising £3000 but really do need your help. No donation is too small- if all my students donate a little I'll reach my target in no time! If you prefer not to donate online, a cash donation is absolutely fine and you can also donate anonymously on the page. I have also got updates about my training, messages and pictures on the page so it’s worth a look! My page can be found under 'News' on my website www.emmaliveyoga.com I am also supporting ‘Guide Dogs for the Blind’ and selling raffle tickets for them in classes . If you are having an Autumn clear out of your cupboards, I will be collecting food items for ‘Food Stop’ Guisborough’s Food bank this xmas. Feel free to pass items to me and I’m happy to pass them on. They are always so grateful for your donations. New Therapy on Offer! I am now fully trained as a Reiki therapist so will now be offering this either as an addon to a massage or as a stand- alone therapy. The times and prices can now be found on my website under ‘Holistic Therapies’. For those of you who are not sure what it is and what it involves- here are some details… The word Reiki comes from the Japanese meaning ‘Universal life energy’. It is believed that a person’s energy should be strong and free-flowing for them to have a positive state of health .If the energy is weak or blocked (Granthis or blocked chakras in Yogic terms) it can lead to physical and emotional imbalance. Reiki is a tool for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. The client remains clothed and lies down. The Reiki therapist will then gently place their hands in a series of positions on or near the body to allow Reiki energy to flow through them to where it is needed. During the treatment the therapist and the client my feel tingling or changes in temperature, see colours or have an emotional response, These are all signs that the body is healing and blocked energies are being released. The client may simply experience a good rest and a nice chill-out! It is a lovely treatment to have after a massage when the body and mind are relaxed and extra-receptive to the treatment. It can also be a therapy in itself if you feel stressed, tired or in need of healing and restoring.
