NATIONAL COUNCIL OF PROVINCES WRITTEN REPLY QUESTION 83 / CW109E MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHERIES: Mr C F B Smit (DA-Limpopo) to ask the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries: QUESTION (a) Which state-owned farms are for (i) land reform purposes and (ii) agricultural usage in each province, (b) for which agricultural sector is each farm used and (c) in which municipal area is each farm situated? CW109E REPLY State owned farms that are administered by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) are agricultural state land categorized as Financial Assistance Land (FALA) or Administrative Debt Management Act (ADMA) and are all intended for disposal to the land reform beneficiaries. The use of all this state land is for agricultural purposes and to date a total of 108 land reform beneficiaries have benefited from 170 farms with an extent of 130 056ha (without decimals 130 051ha). The summary of the state land information is herein provided and details of municipal locations are provided as Annexure A. In the North West a total of 16 properties with an extent of 15 232ha have been allocated to 15 land reform beneficiaries. The Gauteng Province has 1 property with 8ha benefiting and 1 beneficiary; KwaZulu Natal has 37 properties with 7 281ha and 24 beneficiaries; Mpumalanga Province has 12 properties with 7 340ha and 11 beneficiaries; Limpopo has 14 properties that are 6 432ha with 7 beneficiaries; Northern Cape has 10 properties with 42 085ha and 8 beneficiaries; Eastern Cape has 22 properties with 27 103ha and 18 beneficiaries; Free State has 33 properties with 4 863ha and 12 beneficiaries and the Western Cape has 25 properties with 19 707ha and 12 beneficiaries. The main use of land is for crop production and grazing.
