Enrique Iglesias, Luis Fonsi, Christian Castro, Jencarlos Canela and Gloria Trevi join the previously announced performances by Maná, Pitbull, Camila, Don Omar and Banda El Recodo. The 2011 Billboard Latin Music Awards presented by State Farm® is the longest running and most prestigious awards show in the Latin music industry and it will take place on Thursday, April 28 at 8PM/7c at the BankUnited Center in Miami, Florida, airing live on Telemundo. After a stellar year of worldwide chart success with hits on his own merit and in collaborations with other leading performers, and topping this year’s list of finalists, Enrique Iglesias, up for fourteen awards, returns for what promises to be an unforgettable performance. His album “Euphoria” is his first bilingual album with seven original Englishlanguage songs and six original Spanish-language songs. The singles "I Like It", which features rapper Pitbull and “Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)” peaked at number one on the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart, making Enrique Iglesias the only male single artist to have eight number one songs on the chart, surpassing Prince and Michael Jackson. Puerto Rican superstar, Luis Fonsi returns to the Billboard Latin Music Awards to perform the worldwide television premiere of his much awaited single “Gritar” from his upcoming album. The pop singer and composer’s previous album, “Palabras del silencio,” topped the Billboard charts as did two of its singles, “Aquí estoy yo” and “No me doy por vencido,” which topped the charts at #1 for 21 weeks and was named the pop song of the decade by Billboard’s “End of Decade” report. Mexican pop singer, Christian Castro, one of Latin music’s best-selling artists who currently holds 65 Gold Records and 31 Platinum Records to date, will also hit the Billboard Latin Music Awards stage. Castro recently launched “Viva el Principe,” a tribute to Jose Jose, whom he considers his music idol. Viva el Principe became his highest debut album since Azul in 2001, debuting at number 2 on the Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums. Also scheduled to perform is popular leading actor and singer Jencarlos Canela. The Cuban-American sensation, who is one of the featured artists in Pitbull’s latest album titled “Armando,” is making headlines again with the launch of his new hit “Caramelo,” the Spanish language version of “I Love Candy,” recorded for international versions of the new movie Hop. Jencarlos will also star in Telemundo’s upcoming original production “Mi Corazon Insiste,” where he will also interpret the title song by the same name. After much success with the launch of his first album “Buscame,” Jencarlos is ready to release his next production titled “Un Nuevo Dia.” Mexican songstress Gloria Trevi, one of the leading female Latin pop singers, has just concluded the most successful multinational tour by any Mexican musical act in the last two years. Gloria Trevi just launched “Gloria,” the follow up album to “Una Rosa Blu” that achieved five #1 singles in Mexico, sold half a million unit sales worldwide and earned her a Billboard Latin Music Award in 2009. “Me río de ti,” the first single of the album “Gloria” launched late in 2010 reaching #1 Latin Album Debut on the US Billboard Charts. These performers join the previously announced participation by Maná, Pitbull, Camila, Don Omar and Banda El Recodo. Additional performers will be announced soon.
