Technical Engineer for Asia-Pacific
Sunopsis is the fastest-growing data integration software company in the world with more than 50%
annual growth and five consecutive years of profitability. Our Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore
has an exciting opening in the role of technical engineer. Applications are accepted immediately, and
the position will be filled by end of December 2005.
The technical engineer will provide critical trouble-shooting, pre-sales, consulting, training, localization
management, and technical support to very large customers throughout the Asia-Pacific region. This
role emphasizes the Japanese market but will include all of Asia-Pacific. The role requires someone with
a passion to expand their skill sets in a wide range of technologies in the rapidly expanding segment of
data and application integration. The role provides a solid foundation to gain knowledge and experience
for anyone on the path to senior-level IT positions.
Job Description
A suitably qualified Technical Engineer will perform the following tasks:

Provide technical support for Sunopsis product lines to successfully achieve customer satisfaction.

Provide implementation consulting to customers and prospects

Provide training to customer’s technical teams

Provide technical presentations and demonstrations of the Sunopsis products, over the Internet and
at customer sites.

Analyze customer requirements and determine feasibility of Sunopsis implementation.

Reproduce problems reported in Sunopsis development environment to enable escalation of issues
to second-level support and the appropriate engineering team.

Occasionally assist in trade shows and seminars

Manage or assist localization activities for the Japanese market

Periodic international travel may be required
Key Attributes
A qualified Technical Engineer must possess the following:

Technical background in engineering or computer science
1. Knowledge of SQL, experience with one or more of the following RDBMS, and a desire to
expand experience and knowledge with other systems:
a. Oracle
b. Microsoft SQL Server
c. IBM DB2
d. Sybase ASE or IQ
e. NCR Teradata
2. Programming experience with a mainstream scripting language such as Python, Perl,
JavaScript, or VBScript, or strong desire to learn Python and JavaScript
3. Aptitude and drive for learning to work with the following operating system environments:
a. MS-Windows
b. Unix
c. AS/400 (i-Series)
d. Mainframe

Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Fluency in English

Proficiency in Japanese: spoken & written
Reporting and Location
The Technical Engineer will report to the Asia-Pacific Technical Director and be based in the Sunopsis
Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore.
