Dear Lady Knight Parents,
The Lady Knight’s Basketball Staff is very excited about the upcoming basketball season. We are glad that you are
interested in becoming a part of our program. It is a very rewarding sport that requires a lot of commitment from
both the player and parent. The purpose of this letter is to give you an understanding of what will be expected during
the selection process. In order to be eligible to tryout your daughter MUST have a completed physical packet
(including the dual participation form) with notarized emergency cards and a signed tryout letter. If your daughter
does indeed make the basketball team we expect that arrangements will be made in order to pick her up in a timely
manner each day. If this becomes a problem your child will eventually be removed from the team.
During tryouts, your daughter will be tested on a variety of things including ball handling, shooting, dribbling,
passing, court awareness, attitude, and coachability.
We anticipate a large number of athletes at tryouts. Please understand it is imperative that your daughter follow
instructions, arrive on time daily, and attend all tryouts. This ensures that each athlete has a chance to get evaluated
properly. Any athlete who can not abide by this will be asked to not return. If your child has any pre-existing
injuries that require any sort of brace, we ask that you make sure they have it with them at all times. For safety
reasons your daughter needs the correct shoes to avoid injury. This means, a high top basketball shoe.
Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation. Mansfield ISD Girls' Basketball Programs have a rich
history including numerous play-off appearances and state titles. Those accomplishments wouldn't have been
possible if not for the years of dedication, dreams and hard work from athletes who were once in the same position
as you. So take a deep breath, relax and get ready to play ball. Good Luck!!

athletic team. Any team placement, position placement, style of play and/or playing time is the sole discretion of the
coach and may not be appealed.
