This Congress will provide a forum for addressing mental health issues and developing links between health professionals, consumers, carers and the community. In a general-practice surgery, every third or fourth patient seen has some form of mental disorder. Levels of disability among primary care patients with such disorders are high; greater on average than disability among primary care patients with common chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, arthritis and back pain. Simple effective treatment is available for many mental disorders and some can be treated more effectively than hypertension or coronary heart disease. Despite this, mental health care is not easy task for family medicine. This congress aims to discuss this problem. We warmly welcome everybody to the EGPRN meeting. We hope to meet you all in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. It is also the largest city of the country. Staying several days in September will be sufficient to make you fall in love with Vilnius.
