SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM
SECTION 1: APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The Harvard Model Congress Europe (HMCE) 2015 Executive Board is pleased to continue the
HMCE Scholarship Program this year to support exemplary delegates demonstrating financial need
to attend the conference. Both full scholarships (covers delegate fee and lodging) and partial
scholarships (covers delegate fee) will be awarded.
Scholarship applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:

A dedicated interest in the mission of HMCE

Demonstrated financial need

Demonstrated academic scholarship

Demonstrated leadership potential

Demonstrated passion for individual and collective growth
To complete the Application Form, please complete the following sections:

Section 1: Personal Information

Section 2: Essay Questions

Section 3: Faculty Advisor Recommendation
Submitting the Application: Please submit the completed Application Form as a .docx form titled
“StudentLastName.FirstName.HMCE2015.docx” on the website http://www.hmceurope.org under
Scholarships.
In order to be considered, a student must submit a completed Scholarship Application Form along
with a Faculty Advisor Recommendation, explained in Section 3.
All application materials are due no later than Saturday, November 14, 2014 at 22:00 UTC-4.
Decisions are expected to be released by Saturday, November 21, 2014 at 22:00 UTC-4.

SECTION 3: ESSAY QUESTIONS
1. Please list your most significant extra-curricular activities. Indicate grade level and positions held.
Can be a list. (Example: Key Club, Grade 9,10,11,12 Secretary and President)
2. List honors or awards received. Indicate which grade and type of award (academic, athletic, other).
(Example: Academic excellence in Math. Grade 9)
3. Please describe your current financial situation and how a scholarship would specifically support
your attendance at the conference. (750 words max.)
4. In a 3-5 minute video please describe the most pressing issue in your community, country, or
world. Please feel free to be expressive and engaging while presenting your response! Videos should
be emailed to scholarships@hmceurope.org no later than November 14, 2014 at 22:00 UTC-4.

SECTION 4: FACULTY ADVISOR RECOMMENDATION
Please fill in the following and ask one faculty advisor from your school to write a letter on your
behalf explaining your financial circumstances and academic background that would qualify you for
this award. The faculty advisor must submit the completed letter for review.

You may send your faculty advisor the memo below along with your own personal message. Please
do so at the same time as you complete this application to ensure your Faculty Advisor has enough
time to complete your recommendation letter.
Students applying for a Harvard Model Congress Europe 2015 Scholarship must have one faculty
advisor submit a letter of recommendation on their behalf.
If you have been asked to submit a letter for a student and are willing to do so, please submit the
letter of recommendation as a .docx or .pdf attachment to Oksana Moscoso, Director of Outreach,
at scholarships@hmceurope.org with the subject of the e-mail and the attached letter being the
student’s name.
In the letter, please include the following:
1) Please describe what you perceive as this student's level of financial need.
2) Please explain why you think this student is deserving of this scholarship.
3) Please briefly tell us about this student's academic record, relevant qualifications, and personal
qualities.
This letter is due no later than Saturday, November 14, 2014 at 22:00 UTC-4.
