GRACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH POSITION DESCRIPTION DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRIES GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director of Music Ministries should have a heart for personal worship as well as a desire to draw the body into corporate worship through music to glorify God. The Director should be a skilled musician with a desire to seek excellence in music, with aspirations for growth and new visions for the music program, and an openness to a wide variety of musical styles. In addition, the Director should exhibit a passion for developing dynamic music program for children, youth and adults to reach the congregation and community at large. EDUCATIONAL/MUSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education Experience in developing/directing church music programs Proficient in a variety of musical styles including contemporary and traditional music Strong conducting and rehearing skills Strong communication and organizational skills PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide planning, coordination, growth and implementation for a comprehensive music ministry, including oversight of all worship music. Integrate the music program with the worship message to create a meaningful impact on each service while incorporating a variety of musical styles and programs Work closely with other ministries, staff and the worship committee in collaborative worship planning and budget preparation/supervision. Enlist, develop and/or lead soloists or musical groups for worship Direct and/or manage chancel choir and praise team including all facets such as recruiting, music selection, maintenance of library, rehearsal and performance delivery. Supervise music personnel, both paid and volunteer Promote the development of faith through music Participate in regularly scheduled staff and worship committee meetings as required.
