We are looking for a dedicated team player to be Counsellor (Full Time) in the Mumbai HIV/MDRTB Project. He/she will be part of a team of 47 national staff and 4 expatriates in Mumbai. Gross Salary: 24,387 INR per month (Non-negotiable) + Other Benefits PURPOSE OF POST Provide Psycho-social Support to /DS- and DR-TB patients and their families/care takers/buddies in MMM ( Madan Mohan Malviya M East Ward-MEW) Hospital through counselling and support groups. Liaison between Doctors without Borders India(DWBI) clinic and MMM Hospital for referral of patients. Collaborate within the different components of the project, ensuring inter-disciplinary teamwork. Promote the importance of counselling in care of DS- and DR-TB patients/PLWHA through example, networking, information exchange, and trainings and provide input in advocacy in MEW. Accountabilities Provide individual and group counselling sessions for DS and DR TB patients in MMM Hospital including adherence counselling in collaboration with RNTCP MMM staff. Conduct mental health assessment for all patients at baseline, during follow up, and ,Refer to DRTB OPD committee psychiatrist if needed. Provide health talks., Plan and facilitate support group sessions .Mentor RNTCP MEW staff in the hospital and HPs on communication skills and counselling of TB patients and assist in social assessments . Assist RNTCP MMM hospital staff and MEW HP staff in conducting health talks, support groups and awareness raising activities in the community (technical input). Collaborate with local NGOs and community based organisations (CBOs) in awareness raising activities and co-facilitate the dissemination of TB related messages. Mentor and co-facilitate home visits for TB patients with the RNTCP staff and DWBI social worker/counsellor. Contribute to the assessment of health seeking behaviour of patients and MEW community. Collaborate in Patient Support trainings and mentoring activities Participate in the creation and implementation of new counselling guidelines, IEC tools and training materials. Page 1 of 2 Collaborate with TISS/other NGO/CBOs affiliated counsellors in order to identify patients’ needs and to provide supportive counselling for MEW TB patients i. Report any issues related to infection prevention Contribute to identify factors defining adherence for TB patients experiences of succeeded adherence cases, in order to assess a new strategy for non-adherent patients Contribute to evaluate and approach the presence of stigma and discrimination in TB patients and PLWHA in MEW and misconceptions on TB in the community Contribute to advocacy efforts for TB patients/PLWHA and Record patient testimonies of treatment experiences incl. stigma and discrimination under the supervision Attend lobbying activities, outside trainings, meetings and involve in emergency interventions if needed Requirements/Qualifications Languages required: English, Hindi, Marathi Required Bachelors/Masters degree in counselling/Psychology/Social work. Essential, working experience of at least 3 years in related jobs for TB/HIV Desirable, working experience with MSF/DWBI or other NGOs. Good working knowledge and skills with Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point Gender: Not relevant Other requirements: o Positive attitude, creativity, Proactive, dynamic, flexible and team player o Motivated to work for humanitarian organisation. o Good organization, planning and reporting skills o Patience and good listening skills and diplomacy and Excellent communication and interpersonal skills o Ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural background.
