Women in Science Scholarship (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 2014 APPLICATION 1 Women in Science A Zonta Club of Milwaukee Scholarship Zonta Zonta is a global organization of 30,000 professionals and executives in 1,200 clubs and 65 countries around the world, who share a commitment to working for women’s rights and gender equality. Zonta envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights, and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, every woman is literate and has access to education, health care, legal and economic resources on an equal basis with men. In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence. More information about Zonta International and the Zonta Club of Milwaukee can be found at www.zonta.org and www.zontamilwaukee.org General Information The Zonta Club of Milwaukee Foundation established the Women in Science Scholarship in 2005. It was designed to encourage women to pursue undergraduate degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM). The Zonta Club of Milwaukee awards the $1,000 scholarship for third or fourth year undergraduate studies, to a student who demonstrates outstanding potential in her chosen field. The scholarship may be used at any university, college or institute offering accredited courses and degrees. Requirements Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: 1. Be eligible to enter the third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree program at an accredited university/college/institute at the time the funds are received. 2. Have achieved an outstanding academic record during the first two-three years of academic studies. 3. Demonstrate intent to complete a program in science, technology, engineering or math and pursue a career in her chosen field of study. One confidential recommendation from a faculty member in your major field of study. 2. One confidential recommendation from an employer, volunteer supervisor, or academic advisor. (Members of Zonta are not eligible to write recommendation letters for applicants.) 3. An essay in 300 words or less that clearly describes your academic and professional goals, the relevance of your program of study, and how the Scholarship will assist you in reaching your goals. 4. Verification of enrollment from the university/college/institute registrar. Transcripts of grades or equivalent records for all universities, colleges, or institutes, with an explanation of the grading system with each transcript submitted.
