CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Combined Sunraysia and Sunraysia South Divisions

GENERAL INFO

The 2012 Cross Country will be run on the Tuesday the 21 st of May unless we encounter really bad weather. In this case the event will be postponed until the Thursday the 23 rd

of May . Ring Warwick

McDermott on 0439034951 to confirm event if unsure due to weather. Please remember this event is a cross country and can be run in conditions that might not be favourable to running a quick time.

ENTRY FEES

Entry fee for the Cross Country has been included in your school's SSVSD affiliation fees. Please ensure your school has paid these fees before you attend the cross country day.

3.

PARTICIPATION

The Championships are open to all children aged 9-12+ who attend a primary school affiliated with the SSVSD. Schools can send up to 5 runners in the boys events and 5 runners in the girls events as long as they can run within the standardised times highlighted below.

Please ensure that the children you send to this event are prepared for it. Any child who walks an unacceptable length of the race will be withdrawn by the officials.

We highly recommend that students meet the following times for their race, so they feel comfortable and not embarrassed.

11/12+ years- under 16 minutes for 3kms

9/10 year- under 14 minutes for 2kms

Champion School Competition

Schools can enter up to a maximum 5 students for each event. Eg 5 students for 9/10 year old boys and 5 students for 9/10 year old girls.

There will only be 1 champion school crowned in each age group/gender level; to enter the champion school competition you need a minimum of 3 runners for each age group/gender level.

The 3 students finishing positions will be added up and the winning school will have the lowest total.

If you do not have 3 students for an age group the students can still compete for individual honours.

Champion school competition will incorporate both Sunraysia and Sunraysia South Schools into one competition.

PROGRAM FOR THE DAY

All races are combined Sunraysia and Sunraysia South Divisions.

9.50am Welcome and Explanation of Rules.

Sunraysia 9/10 year old combined girls and boys Event 2km.

Sunraysia South 9/10 year old combined girls and boys Event 2km.

10.45am Sunraysia 11 year old combined girls and boys Event 3km.

11.10am Sunraysia South 11 year old combined girls and boys Event 3km.

11.35am Sunraysia 12+ year old combined girls and boys Event 3km.

SPOT PRIZES:

Spot prizes will be handed out at random at the presentations, so children need to retain their finishing order number.

7.

TEACHERS ATTENDING:

Teachers attending the event will be required to assist in the running of the event. Please make sure you are available to assist in some way.

Please photocopy as many copies that you need of the Cross Country Record sheet for recording your children's results on the day.

Entries do not need to be sent to convener before the event, simply bring your record sheets, with participants’ names, DOB and age included, to the Cross Country.

TROPHIES:

Individual medals will be awarded to winning students and champion school.

Regional Championships

The top 10 place getters for boys and girls in the 9/10 yr event and 10 from each of the 11 & 12+yrs will be entered in the SSV regional championships to be held on Tuesday the 4 th June Venue St

Arnaud. Please refer to the SSV website for more info. It is the parents and/or schools responsibility to get the students to Regional event.

Course

The course will be 3km long for 11/12+ year old event.

The course will be 2km long for 9/10 year old event.

AGE

Age is taken from 31 st Dec of current year.
