“Crandall’s Castle” By: Betty Ren Wright - Published in 2003, by Scholastic Inc, 557 Broadway, New York - Read by Cole Podolsky This book is about a young girl by the name of Charli Belland. Her Uncle decides that he wants to buy and old mansion for him and the family to live inside, in a dark gloomy town. Charli agrees with her Uncles decision and helps him clean up the house, she finds the house really interesting at first, but that is until Charli starts to witness many strange things. At first Charli had heard somebody singing, she followed the noise and nobody was there, then she saw a shadow of a baby cradle, there was no cradle, and then she had heard crying and there was nobody with her. Charli had got really frustrated when nobody would believe her stories. Charli has two twin cousins’ names “Gene” and ‘Terry”, which are four years old. Her Uncle “Will”, a friend “Sophia”, and a stepfather “Ray”. Sophia has no family what so ever, her grandmother is very sick and is in the hospital. Charli had asked her Uncle if she could move in with the family. Charli’s mom’s husband Ray is newly married to the family, and Charli hates his guts. To be honest the book was alright, the thing that really enticed me to read the book was the cover, the book itself was pretty good, the story line was really good, it made you keep thinking about everything that had happened from place to place and from character to character. There was nothing that I did not like, I agreed with pretty much everything and I thought overall the book was good and I was happy with my decision When I first saw the book, the cover page got me hooked. When I seen a lady standing in the doorway of a huge house, I knew it was going to be a scary and mysterious kind of book. When I first started to read it I wasn’t sure if it was the book, that I have wanted to read for the next while, and the book I would have to do a report on. I had also questioned the amount of pages that this book had, because I thought that, I have until spring break to finish will these amount of pages would it be too much for me to handle? After reading, I got hooked and my mind was focused on the book, I got into it at times and I thought that this book was pretty descent. For people who enjoy off and on mystery, I recommend reading this book.
