The death of Andrew Weaver occurred at 2:20 a.m. July 15, and the death of his mother, Mary Weaver,
took place at 1:30 p.m. of the same day.
Funeral services were conducted at the Church of the Brethren at Yellow Creek by Revs. Martin Ramer
and I. S. Burns.
The scene was quite singular. An aged mother and a son to lie in death’s estate drew a large assembly;
about five-hundred or more people attended the funeral.
Those in attendance from a distance were: Mrs. Nancy Brenneman and her son, Samuel Brenneman of
Orville, Ohio, and Samuel Weaver of Harbor Springs, Mich.
ANDREW WEAVER was born in Elkhart Co., May 12, 1868, died July 15, 1911, aged 43 years, 2
months and 3 days. He was united in marriage to Sarah Tschupp, May 4th, 1890. To this union were born three
sons and one daughter. His son Roscoe, preceded him to the spirit world nine years ago. He leaves a wife, two
sons and one daughter and a number of friends to mourn his departure. He was a member of the Church of the
Brethren for a number of years.
MARY WEAVER (nee) MARTIN was born in Cumberland county, Pa., May 27th, 1829, departed this
life July 15th, 1911, aged 82 years, one month and 18 days, living about eleven hours after her son’s death. She
seemed to be reconciled to death’s call and soon embraced its silent summons.
She was united in marriage to Samuel W. Weaver in Wayne county, Ohio, Jan. 22, 1850. To this union
were born nine children; six sons and three daughters, all having preceded her in death except her son Samuel of
Harbor Springs, Mich.
In 1856 she with her husband came to Elkhart county, where they resided until death. She survived her
husband in life, who died May 11, 1904, about seven years ago. She leaves one son, one brother, Christian of
Goshen, two sisters, Nancy Brenneman of Orville, Ohio and Fanny Garver of Nappanee, ten grand children,
three great-grand children and a number of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
Several years after marriage she united with the Mennonite church of Wayne, Ohio, and remained a
faithful and consistent member until death.
The family extend their sincere thanks to all who gave aid and assistance during sickness and burial.
