Forum Program Snapshots - Georgia Institute of Technology Name Institution David Ku Email david.ku@me.gatech.edu Photo Biography M.D., Emory University, 1984 Ph.D., Georgia Institute of Technology, 1983 M.S., Georgia Institute of Technology, 1982 B.A., Harvard University, 1978 Began at Tech In Fall 1986 as an Assistant Professor Prior was the Fulbright Gastprofessor in Munich, Germany and a Fellow in Cardiovascular Pathology at the University of Chicago. Dr. Ku has an active interest in peripheral vascular pathology and unsteady, three-dimensional fluid dynamics. One project investigates the relative role of hemodynamics and thrombosis in vascular graft occlusion. Additional studies involve the development of a tissue-engineered vascular graft. Noninvasive magnetic resonance imaging is used to determine the hemodynamics and detect pathology in vivo. Computational solutions explore fluid mechanic variations from geometry. Another project studies the collapsible tube behavior of highly stenotic arteries. Dr. Ku's work is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the American Heart Association, and the Whitaker Foundation. His collaborative work is performed with Emory University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland.
