CARDIAC DYSRHYTHMIAS & THERAPEUTIC MODALITIES (RN, LVN, RTS)
20.0 HRS
This course is designed for the healthcare provider to learn to analyze the
cardiac rhythms. The program is also helpful as a review if you have taken the
course before. The class will include anatomy and physiology of the heart,
conduction of the heart and analysis of sinus, atrial, junctional, heart block and
ventricular rhythms. Emphasis will be placed on the effect of these rhythms on
cardiac function and appropriate treatment. Pacemakers will be discussed.
Homework and completion of an exam are required to obtain a certificate.

HEMODYNAMIC MONITORING
4.0 CONTACT HOURS
Learn about cardiac anatomy and physiology and how hemodynamic parameters
of preload, afterload, cardiac output, cardiac index related to patient care.
Hands-on use of the Swan-Ganz pulmonary artery catheter will be discussed.
Calculation of hemodynamic parameters of SVR, PVR, and C.I. will be practiced

take the NRP test / evaluation at your convenience. After completing a self review of the course
manual, and you feel you have mastered the required lessons, you can register for the online written
evaluation. Once registered, you have 14 days to complete the lesson evaluations.

You will perform a short skills check / Megacode with a performance checklist to verify competency of
the required skills.

Online evaluation must take place prior to evaluation of You must present this to the instructor within
30 days of completion as evidence of successfully completing the online exam.
If 30 days pass without completion of the Performance Checklist component, the online test becomes

This course will provide the learner with the necessary introductory skills to
become a Unit Secretary or Ward Clerk. The program includes communication
techniques, medical abbreviations, and transcription of physicians orders on to a
Kardex. Techniques for computer data entry will be discussed. Required
notebook is purchased at the door.
