JOB PURPOSE:

To assist in the development and delivery of the Trust’s Communication Strategy and Digital Media Strategy in line with business goals and values. To assist in the delivery of the Communications function across a number of platforms and support various communication initiatives.

Accountability:

1. To support the delivery of the Communications Strategy and activities at the

Trust including internal and external communications.

2. To control the creative design and publication of written materials with our design partners. To carry out a range of marketing and publicity activities to support the Trust’s objectives and enhance its reputation.

3. To contribute to innovative ideas and new ways of communicating to customers, employees and various stakeholders.

3. To develop and implement the Trust’s internal and external communications to its stakeholders, to protect and enhance the Trust’s reputation.

4. To provide information to stakeholders of the Trust including Board, employees, customers, partner organisations, media and general public.

5. To ensure customers are involved appropriately and in a fully meaningful way.

MAIN DUTIES:

External Communications

1 . To develop and deliver a PR schedule that responds to the needs of service areas

2. T o identify, research and develop newsworthy opportunities that will present a positive image of the Trust and to develop its reputation. T o disseminate press releases and advertising copy to selected media and develop good working relationships with them.

3. To regularly update and contribute to the Trust’s social media platforms,

Twitter and Facebook.

4. To assist with the production, design and organisation of the customer newsletter in consultation with all service areas and the Editorial Panel.

5. To manage the production of leaflets, brochures and other printed material to support the Trust’s activities, including a regular refresh of office and window displays.

6. To assist with the production of the Annual Report and related performance information.

7. To be responsible for format and content of the Trust’s website with press releases and news items and review and update the design as appropriate.

8. To seek opportunities for awards and write submissions that will help to enhance the Trust’s reputation in the sector.

Internal Communications

1. To manage the production, design and organisation of the employee newsletter in consultation with all service areas and the internal communications group.

2. To update the Trust

’s intranet and the on-going maintenance of messages.

3. To be responsible for organising the production of all corporate briefing systems to employees in consultation with all service areas.

4. To sit on the internal recognition panel – supporting the group internally and taking good news stories for press releases.

5. To regularly communicate and meet with service areas to seek good news stories.

Creative Design

1. To ensure that the

Trust’s brand guidelines are adhered to in all communications.

2. To co-ordinate and manage the

Trust’s image bank ensuring that a photographic record is maintained of key events.

3. To utilise Creative Design agencies as appropriate. To brief effectively and manage the relationship through to the print stage.

6. To write well researched copy for internal or external communication materials focused on target audiences.

Print Management

1. To work with the Trust’s chosen printer and those internal colleagues organising printed materials to identify and disseminate best practice.

Other Materials

1. To co-ordinate the design and production of publicity materials including video, sound recordings, display boards and merchandising.

2. To assist with the development of mobile text messaging to customers.

3. To co-ordinate and maintain other materials for communications used throughout the Trust e.g. display screens.

General Duties

1. To deputise for Communications Manager as required and work on special projects as required.

2.

To consider alternative and innovative ways of communicating with customers and stakeholders.

3. To assist with the organisation and delivery of major events, including employee and customer conferences and Board away days and openings of new developments.

4. To always work consistently with requirements relating to:

5. To represent, promote and maintain a positive attitude and image for

Halton Housing Trust

6. To carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.

Knowledge, skills and experience

1. Educated to degree level

2. Marketing/Communications or PR qualification

3. Experience of working in a similar role

4. Evidence of successfully undertaking communications and marketing activities.

5. Experience of delivering high quality information within required timescales

6. Excellent communications skills both written and verbal

7. Contributing to and fulfilling design, photography and film briefs

8. Experience of writing, editing and disseminating press releases

9.

Ability to develop good working relationships with editors, journalists, external suppliers, stakeholders and internal departments.

10. Knowledge of managing and updating website content

11 . Knowledge and experience of using digital/social media is essential

12. Demonstrable planning and organising skills.

13. Experience of using Adobe Photoshop and Quark design software

14. Excellent influencing skills, at all levels from Directors, Customer, Coworkers and partners / contractors.

15. Drive, confidence, energy and enthusiasm.

16. Excellent verbal, written and creative communication skills required for proactive work and contact with the media.

17. Ability to think creatively and to turn abstract ideas into published materials.

18. To have a keen eye for detail.

19. Computer literate with experience of Microsoft based packages.

20. Ability to multi task and work effectively to strict deadlines.

21. Experience of working with design agencies and printers.

22. Hold a current valid driving licence and have a car available for work at all times.
