Target Audience
This program has been designed for physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, physician assistants, professional
nurses, advanced practice nurses in the medical specialties of radiation oncology.
Series Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
 Based on diagnosis and clinical indications, determine appropriate doses/volumes/techniques for radiation
therapy for patients treated with radiation
 Identify radiation dose tolerances for organs at risk (OARs) in order to deliver radiation safely to minimize risk of
damage to normal tissues
 Promote communication between nurses and physicians regarding likely side effects and their management in
patients undergoing radiation therapy based on evaluation of treatment plans
Accreditation
Physicians: The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is accredited by the Accreditation Council
for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Nurses: The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Nursing Education, Innovation and Professional
Development is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited
approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Designation of Credit
Physicians: The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania designates this live activity for a
maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of
their participation in the activity.
Nurses: Nurse participants will be awarded 1.0 contact hour.
