BIONIS Conference, Thursday 20th Sep. 2007, at the Bath
Royal Literary and Scientific Institution (the BRLSI), Bath, UK
This conference will include keynote presentations from representatives of companies that are
successfully using Biomimetics (inspiration from nature) for commercial innovation, together with
ample networking opportunities for delegates.
BIONIS Award Ceremony and Prize Winner’s lecture:
The daytime conference will be followed by the presentation of the First BIONIS Biomimetics
Award, sponsored by Swedish Biomimetics 3000  , and the Prize Winner’s lecture, as a BRLSI
evening lecture.

Who should attend:
Academics, designers, industrialists and policymakers who have an interest in new technologies
inspired by natural systems, and those with an interest in sustainable technologies.
How to participate:
The fee of £75 for BIONIS members and £85 for non-members will include a buffet lunch with
wine, refreshments during the course of the day and a light supper with wine before the evening
lecture session. (BIONIS membership is free - please visit the members’ page of

Format of the day:
Registration is from 10.15 am, followed by the first lecture at 11.00 am. The day-time session will
finish by 5.45 pm. This will be followed by a reception and opportunity to meet the BIONIS prize
winner at 6.00 pm. BRSLI members will join the conference attendees for the prize giving and
evening lecture at 7.30 pm. The event will be over by 9.00 pm

About BIONIS
The mission of the network is to promote the application of Biomimetics in products and services
and its use in education and training. Membership is now over 350, with members from academia
and industry in more than 48 countries. It is currently funded by the University of Reading.
