September 9, 2009 Dear Property Owner: We are pleased to inform you that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved changes to the flood zone in your area. The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the acceptance of a Final Letter of Map Revision, or LOMR, submitted by the Santa Clara Valley Water District — has been accepted by FEMA effective July 24, 2009. Community meetings were held on February 20, 2008 at Plata Arroyo Park and July 28, 2009 with the Gateway East Neighborhood Action Coalition informing the neighborhoods of the changes. The LOMR changes the flood zone for your property, or a portion of your property, to Zone X. This change may have significant benefits for your property located at the ««Site Address Block»», APN «APN»: Flood insurance rates are lower for buildings in Zone X compared to Zone D Areas in Zone D are areas of undetermined, but possible, flood hazards. Areas in Zone X are studied areas determined to be inside the 500-year flood area with average depth less than 1 foot. FEMA and the water district urge property owners to consider voluntary purchase of flood insurance because high-risk areas are not the only ones in danger of flooding. Eligible property owners may purchase a low-cost Preferred Risk Policy. Please contact your insurance agent for details. Interested property owners may contact the City of San José - Floodplain Manager at (408) 535-7803 or by email at Floodzoneinfo@sanjoseca.gov for more information about the Final LOMR and revised maps. The Final LOMR and revised maps can be viewed at the City of San Jose by appointment or online from FEMA’s website at www.msc.fema.gov Enter the map panel 06085C0251H, click on the ‘+’ symbol under the ‘Show LOMC’ column, and view the LOMC for case #09-09-1204P.
