Your attitude is your choice. 5. Choose a challenge. Math is most engaging when viewed a way to challenge yourself. Let’s see what you can discover about geometry! 6. Choose to have fun. We’re all about fun! Learning is supposed to be fun, so we’ll do everything we can to make it that way! TI-83 or TI-84 models are recommended. Course Configuration: This course will be organized into several learning cycles throughout the year. Each cycle will be approximately 10 days in length. After almost every cycle we will do a short review cycle on review material A few cycles will have both new material and review material with two tests back to back Each cycle usually concludes with two assessments 1) new material 2) review material Each assessment will include both multiple choice and short answer types of questions Within each cycle there will be checks so I know how to best help you with current material. Each day the homework will be recorded for both completion and accuracy. No retakes will be allowed since the course objectives will be tested multiple times Grading Scale A 93 – 100 Grading Policy A90 – 92 90% of your semester grade is composed of B+ 87 – 89 Tests (90%) B 83 – 86 B80 – 82 Daily Work (10%) C+ 77 – 79 C 73 – 76 10% of your semester grade is the semester final exam C70 – 72 D+ 67 – 69 No extra credit will be given!! After the score is received students will receive a contract indicating the criteria and time frame in which to complete the retake. If you retake, that score will replace the original score, whether better or worse. Students who are unable to take an assessment on the day that it is given will have a grade of an “M” entered. This will prompt an email to parents as well as show as a zero in the grade book. Upon completion of the test, the score of the test will replace the “M.” Homework: Homework assigned in Algebra 2 is work intended to reinforce learning that has already occurred in class. This practice work will be recorded in Infinite Campus and graded for completion. Points for incomplete or missing homework can be made up if homework is turned in prior to the first test of the unit. Daily Work: Record date, Cycle number, assignment number on each homework page. This will help me record your HW Use pencil for your work and pen for checking and correcting assignments. Partner work and group work is encouraged, however, copying is not. Answers to odd should be checked in the back of your book. Evens will be given upon request. It is your responsibility to check problems and come to class ready to ask questions about any you have missed. Work must be shown on assignments. Answers only do not earn credit. Problems will be assigned almost daily. You will have opportunities to ask questions and receive help on anything that is not clear to you. You will not have enough time to try and figure out the problems in class if you have not done your homework. Plan ahead. Online Textbook The entire Algebra 2 textbook is online.
