This Week’s Priorities
Target Submission number of cows to be bred per day is 9 (Based on 195 cows bullable)
Touch up tail paint on all cows as required, record services on breeding chart.
Start AI on cows on Tues 19th
Inject all heifers not bulled on Wed 20th with PG serve as they come on heat.
If weather permits be ready to spray paddocks for docks.
Ensure Mg flakes are put in the water trough each milking to cover for grass tetany.

Grass Details
There are 46.33 ha available for grazing now with the ground closed for pit silage and reseeding. The farm
cover is 590 kg/DM/Ha. Our stocking rate on the cow ground is now 6.2 LU / ha after we have closed up for
silage and reseeding. Growth rate last week was 73 kg/DM/Ha. (Paddocks closed for silage and bales out of
this calculation). Cows are getting magnesium in the water to cover for grass tetany. The herd is going into
covers of 1400 and grazing to 3.5-4 cm.
Calving
Calving is nearly finished. There are 198 cows calved, 99% of the herd (198 calved out of 199 expected to
calve). The 6 week calving rate was 86%.
Milk Solids
Current milk yield is 14.9 litres per cow per day at 4.2% Fat and 3.29% protein (1.15 kgs of milk solids a day)
and an SCC of 100. On the basis that a herd of heifers milk 78% of a mature herd this is the equivalent of a
mature herd milking 19.1 litres per day (1.47 kgs of milk solids a day).
