Checking Your Edited Manuscript
Now is the time to reread your manuscript carefullyto check the editing, to answer
all queries, and to make final changes of your own. (Remember that you are
responsible for the spelling of proper names and foreign words, including accents,
and for the accuracy of all notation.)
In answering the editor’s queries make the final change in the manuscript as you
wish it to appear. Your changes and additions should conform to the style that has
been set up for the book. Note that the files have been protected, so that all your
revisions will be tracked. Please do not try to evade the protection; this will only delay
the process.
Please return to us a complete and in every way final manuscript. You will be
charged for alterations in proof for the amount exceeding our contractual allowance
of 10 percent of the original cost of composition. Resetting lines of proof or changing
notation is a very costly process. Further, most manuscripts go directly into page
proof, and that means, of course, that changes and additions are difficult and
expensive. Be sure that your manuscript represents the way you wish your work to
appear in print.
Please check your entry in the “About the Authors” section (file called Yu_22). Note
that the figures are being processed separately; we may have queries about them at
a later date.
The final version of the manuscript must be returned to MIT Press by October 30 if
the schedule for your book is to be maintained. Please return your file to Eric Yu by
October 16 if possible, October 23 at the latest.
