Campus Ministry Student Board Application 2008-2009 Academic Year The Campus Ministry student board invites and welcomes application for membership from Prep students who are committed to living and growing as Christian leaders and to exercising that leadership within the Prep community and beyond. If after reading and carefully considering the expectations for membership you wish to join this community of leaders please discuss this commitment with your parents and sign below in the appropriate space and ask your parent to do the same. 1. The Campus Ministry Student Board is an essential part of the Campus Ministry Office. The student board is a community of Christian leaders and therefore those students chosen to be a part of the board should view themselves as “servant leaders”. Members of the student board must take part in one of our leadership retreats offered this summer (August 14 or 21 will be in Monroe, CT or in the Notre Dame University Vision Program). Failure to attend one of these retreats will result in your removal from the board. Past participants in this retreat will be asked to serve in a greater capacity. 2. We are looking for a diverse group of student leaders from different grade levels who posses varied talents and interests. Student board members are expected to: -Participate in a leadership capacity at our morning masses (8:10) at least once a month and at our full school liturgies. -Lead morning prayer over the PA at least once a month. -Be a part of the freshman retreat in a leadership capacity (grounds crew, leader, committee member) -Organize and collect Mite Box and support its causes. -Attend all Campus Ministry Student Board meetings. The dates are as follows and please note on your calendar: 9/8; 10/6; 11/17; 12/1; 1/12; 2/9; 3/2; 4/6; 5/18; 6/1. These take place after school from 2:35 until 3:15. These are the minimum expectations of all student board members but there will be other opportunities for board members to exercise their role as Christian leaders. _______________________________________________________________________________________ If I am accepted into the Campus Ministry Student Board I understand that I am making a commitment to the Campus Ministry Program for the entire school year. I commit myself to personal growth throughout the year so that I might both strengthen my relationship with God and my dedication to service. I also commit myself to my fellow student board members in establishing a community of faith, friendship, support and encouragement. I realize that this commitment will demand on my part a sacrifice of time, energy and shared talent. I realize being a student board member will require me to lead by setting an example for others to follow and that my behavior and attitude is always and everywhere a reflection of my role as a Christian leader. I realize that if I am not accepted onto the student board, Campus Ministry offers many other opportunities for leadership and service and that I can continue to be supportive of those values by seeking out these and other ways to serve within the school community. _____________________________ Student Signature ________________________________ Parent Signature *Please return signed paper, reflection, and two teacher recommendations by May 2, 2008.
