Medlin1 Shep Medlin K. Mount English 9 12 February 2016 Persuasive Speech Good Morning everyone, I’m glad you could make it today. Don’t you hate having to carry around your binder along with all of your heavy books all day long? Kids have always had to carry around school books at school adding to the massive amount of stuff that they already had to lug around. We are now getting to a point in technology where the possibility to partially or even completely replace our textbooks with net books is here. Although, you might ask what a net book is. A net book is smaller, lighter, and cheaper version of a laptop that has the potential to change the way we look at school. I am for this textbook revolution. I think it is time that we have one less thing to carry around. The average high school sophomore carries around 20 lbs. of textbooks every day. This can potentially cause health problems for students when they are carrying all of these around in their backpack. On the other hand the average net book weighs only around 2-3 pounds and it can store all of our textbooks on it. The average net book would also be much thinner than all of our textbooks. This would make it easier to carry around all of the information you need, not just class to class, but also from school to home. You may be thinking this is good and all but what about money. Well the good news is with the rapid development of technology net books are getting cheaper and cheaper all the time. Medlin1 When you were or are in school, could you just never get what the teacher was saying because you couldn’t listen to a long lecture or just copy down what she/he was writing down on the board? Did you have to actually physically do something yourself to understand what they were saying? Well net books can help with all of that. Net books are way more interactive than normal textbooks and other traditional methods of teaching. With a net book a kid can be reading a textbook, and then they can go over to Microsoft Word and take notes, and then go on the internet to look for a video that would help them understand the subject better. Imagine if you came home from school and you actually remembered half the stuff you learned that day or you take a test that was usually really hard but because you have been using your net book you understood the subject better and did better on the test. It is time that we replace our old, used, and worn out textbooks with net books. They are lighter, more interactive, more fun, and in some cases, cheaper. Do you want yourself or your kids to do better and understand more in school? Well if you answered yes we should go out and replace our textbooks with laptops now! Sources Alan , Schwarz.
