I have worked in the field of Family Law since 2008 and have reported on numerous children in private and public law proceedings. Questionnaires and tests are used where appropriate. I also meet with a close friend or relative. In respect of children, I interview both child and parent/carer. Generally both parent and child are present throughout the interview. I use observation and assessment measures specifically designed for use with children. Family Court Reports Reports on children and adolescents for the Family Courts are generally dictated by the specific questions put to me. I complete one of these reports every two months (approximately). Reports involve a detailed assessment of the child using age appropriate interventions and measures, discussion and consultation with the child’s school, discussion and consultation with birth parents, foster parents and / or residential staff, and the use of appropriate psychometric measures. Such assessments also involve detailed observations within various settings.
