First Leg: Pedal for Scotland Challenge, 8 September – 49 miles
The first leg of the Cycle Challenge will be from the vibrant city of Glasgow to Scotland’s capital,
Edinburgh. This will provide an opportunity to challenge yourself and raise vital funds for Yorkhill
Children’s Charity, whilst at the same time allowing you to experience true Scottish culture and
hospitality at its best.
Commonwealth Games host city, Glasgow, offers a fashionable West End with quaint and quirky
boutiques, splendid Gothic buildings such as the University of Glasgow, and places of interest
including the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Riverside Museum.
Glasgow's £75 million Science Centre features Scotland's first IMAX cinema with an 80ft by 60ft
screen, as well as state-of-the-art facilities for youngsters to learn about science and technology
through fun exhibits, science shows, workshops and talks. When it is sunny, Glasgow has several
beautiful parks to stroll in; and if the weather lets you down, shelter can be found in the glorious Kibble
Palace in the Botanic Gardens!
You will also have an unparalleled opportunity to observe the capital city Edinburgh, the birth place of
J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, from handlebar level. Marvel at the splendour of the magnificent
Edinburgh Castle wherever you are in the city; this great medieval fortress is perched on ancient
volcanic rock and can be seen for miles around.
Tucked away behind Waverley Station, the Edinburgh Dungeon is a gruesome entertainment venue
that allows visitors to experience the murkier side of Scottish history. The famous Edinburgh Zoo also
offers the world-famous Penguin Parade, and more recently- pandas! It is home to over one thousand
rare and endangered animals and the newly-constructed African plains afford a fantastic view of the
historical city.
Today, the Royal Mile is an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, pubs and historical monuments, as well
as forming a major focal point for the annual Edinburgh Festival. It also serves as the heart of
Scotland's legal system, being the home of both the High Court of Justiciary and the Court of Session.
So, if you are interested in learning more about Scotland’s most picturesque cities, sign up and join
the cause! You will have the experience of a lifetime- guaranteed!

Second Leg: Lahore Cycle Challenge, February 2014
40 miles over two days of cycling
Lahore is at the heart of Pakistan, and is the second largest city in the country. It is famous for its
spectacular architecture, eye catching gardens, remarkable weather, and outstanding cuisine. If you’re
looking for an exciting challenge that will test your endurance and allow you to raise funds for Yorkhill
Children’s Charity, then look no further than our Lahore Cycle Challenge.
The Lahore Cycle Challenge is an amazing opportunity to experience the real Pakistan and interact
with the locals at handlebar level by pedalling the rural back roads. With an average of 20 miles of
cycling a day, this challenge requires a good level of fitness and the motivation to ensure you reach
the end goal.
Along with the Cycle Challenge, the journey provides the perfect opportunity to observe some of
Lahore’s famous tourist attractions. This includes the Mughal masterpiece Shahi Quila, also known as
the Royal Fort, which is famous for its stunning mirror work.
Some other famous sites within the fort include the Sheesh Mahal, Alamgiri Gate, and the luscious
Shalimar gardens, built by the Mughal emperor and used as the royal pleasure garden from the 16th
to the 19th century. The Badshahi Masjid is also one of Lahore’s best known landmarks, and is
capable of accommodating more than 55,000 worshippers at a time.
In addition to the cycle challenge in Lahore, there will also be the opportunity to visit and experience
life for children in Lahore. This will be done through visiting a number of children’s charities. There will
also be an opportunity to visit the Children’s
Hospital in Lahore.
Please sign up today for this challenge of a
lifetime and an experience like no other!
