WATER OF LEITH VISITOR CENTRE
The former Slateford School building on
Lanark Road has been transformed into the
fascinating Water of Leith Visitor Centre, home
of the Water of Leith Conservation Trust.
Funding from the Millennium Commission,
SEEL and the City of Edinburgh Council has
enabled us to restore the building
sympathetically and create a beautifully
designed and well-serviced interior.
The main part of the building houses a
fantastic Interactive Exhibition on the river and
its wildlife, which is open to the public
everyday 10 am to 4 pm. In addition we have
the yellow room (a large open hall) and a
meeting room, which are available for hire.
Facilities include: toilets, disabled access,
kitchen and office space.
The Water of Leith Visitor Centre is a unique
and spectacular setting for meetings, training
courses and social engagements. Our friendly
and helpful staff will ensure your occasion
runs without a hitch. We represent value for
money and originality.
The Visitor Centre is conveniently situated on
A70 Lanark Road, near Slateford Railway
Station and main bus routes (map overleaf).
The Water of Leith Conservation Trust, in
association with Jenny Mill Catering, provides
a comprehensive catering service.
Fresh
Coffee, Teas and a selection of biscuits are
just £1.30 per person. Lunchtime buffet style
catering can be organised with 2 days notice;
various menus are available, from £6.50 per
person.

WATER OF LEITH CONSERVATION TRUST
Sc000015 - Established in 1988 by residents concerned
about Edinburgh's river, the Water of Leith Conservation
Trust aims 'To conserve and enhance the Water of Leith
as a haven for wildlife and an education and recreation
resource for all'. We have a very active membership and
a team of dedicated volunteers who all help to clean up
and protect the river. You can follow the river's 12-mile
journey from Balerno to Leith along the newly completed
Water of Leith Walkway - the Centre is ideally located
halfway.

By Rail - Slateford Railway Station is just a few minutes
walk from the Centre, marked on the map.
By Bike - The Water of Leith Walkway passes the
Centre and the Union Canal towpath is accessible just
