We encourage all Mount Tabor seniors and parents to file the FAFSA (Free Application for
Federal Student Aid) online by the earliest deadline of the colleges and universities where
students are applying for admission. All federal and North Carolina forms of financial aid are
determined after completion of the FAFSA.
Make sure that you have researched all scholarship opportunities at the colleges and universities where you have
applied or intend to apply……and follow through with directions and meeting deadlines.
Many scholarship and financial aid programs in North Carolina are described in Student Financial for North

Forsyth County high school students should review scholarship opportunities available through the
WINSTON-SALEM FOUNDATION. Go to www.wsfoundation.org to explore scholarships and the
common scholarship application. The application is available now, and the deadline to apply for all
scholarships is April 1, 2013. Pick up an information flyer from the scholarship rack.
FAFSA Day is scheduled for February 23, 2013 at sites across North Carolina. Students may
register for FAFSA Day at CFNC.org/fafsaday. This is an opportunity to receive immediate
assistance in filing your FAFSA. Mount Tabor High School will offer FAFSA assistance on
February 23, 2013 also. Parents and students may receive assistance from 9 am to noon on
that day. Please contact the Mount Tabor Guidance Office at 703-6728 or stop by to
reregister for the Mount Tabor FAFSA event.
Research shows that 90% of students with a completed FAFSA are enrolled in college!!!!!

Eligible students are seniors at North Carolina traditional public high schools who have been accepted
to one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina; student has demonstrated
leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement; student must have a
minimum 2.5 GPA and deserving of financial aid
