I O/Koszalin 29 1500 1096 1210 9003 6017 0000 with the following note: „Konferencja biomasa” WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE CONFERENCE from 13 to 14 October 2009 KOSZALIN PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE: Poland is on the threshold of epoch-making challenges as regards power industry. The system used so far of large scale power industry, related both to the production of electric energy and thermal energy, based on the combustion of hard coal and brown coal, requires thorough changes. The necessity of changes in the power industry system is the result of numerous weighty reasons, including the following: a high depreciation level of power plants, electric energy transmission grids, heat and power generating plants and urban thermal power stations. This calls for starting new investments and modernization of the existing systems. The world’s pressure concerning reduction of CO2 large-scale emissions constitutes yet another important aspect which gives rise to technological changes. Counteraction of the green house effect, especially on the part of the EU states, and on the grounds of the Kyoto Protocol, is focusing in the direction of the use of renewable sources of energy in place of energy fossil fuels. Poland is one of those states where there are relatively high possibilities of the use of renewable sources of energy in each of their forms, and particularly as concerns the use of biomass. The present situation of Poland is favourable for such changes; it is chiefly us on whom it depends how this opportunity will be availed of. The scientific conference which is being organized, together with the field workshop, will constitute an opportunity to present the latest results of research in this area, as well as achievements and economic implementations. It will also provide a platform for an exchange of the views of the representatives of the scientific and research world and of economy in the area of renewable sources of energy, and also opinions of the representatives of local authorities and non-government organizations. Scientific studies, as well as studies connected with economy in this area, will be published by the Koszalin University of Technology. The conference and the scientific workshop will be conducted under the Project entitled “Baltic Sea RegionBiomass Promotion 2007-2013”. We do hope that there will be many participants to the conference and that we will be able to work out together significant achievements. CONFERENCE PROGRAMME: TOPICS OF THE CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP: - biomass as energy material, - biomass potential in Poland, - prospects of the fulfilment of the National Indicator Goal, - liquid biofuels: state and production prospects, - solid biofuels: state and production prospects, - fermentative biogas plants, - safety of food and energy supplies, - use of organic waste as a material, - new biomass processing technologies, - potential of forest resources for power industry, - energy potential of region’s agriculture, - local energy centres, - dispersed energy, - future of the Polish power industry, - future of fuel in transport, - economic effectiveness of energy crops, - economic effectiveness of dispersed energy, - location of investments related to renewable sources of energy and spatial planning, - economics and biomass crops and biomass use, - prospects of Poland in the aspect of 3x20 Package, energy self-sufficiency of regions and communes, - green energy: prospect of the future, - practical guidelines for those who set up plantations, for local governments, owners of heating systems, and potential biomass producers, - starting and effects of a fermentative biogas plant, - how to do business based on biomass? - creation of a market for biomass and bio-energy.
