Single Frequency DFB Fiber Lasers for Spectroscopy and Sensing Jens Engholm Pedersen, Christian V. The typically low power (10’s of mW) output from DFB fiber lasers can be amplified to several Watts using double clad fiber technology in combination with high power multi mode pump lasers; with large mode area fiber the threshold for stimulated Brillouin scattering can be pushed to allow amplification even further to power levels in excess of 100 W. Such high power single frequency sources are used in coherent beam combining, remote sensing, laser display systems, and other applications that require high efficiency frequency doubling of CW laser light. The presentation will discuss fundamental aspects of DFB fiber lasers as well as applications.
