Davis moved, by leave, That so much of Standing Order 5.03 be suspended in relation to the presentation and tabling of the Family and Community Development Committee’s report into the Handling of Child abuse by Religious and other Organisations so as to allow the mover of the motion to take note of the Report and other members to speak as required. Question — put and agreed to. 3 FAMILY AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE — HANDLING OF CHILD ABUSE BY RELIGIOUS AND OTHER NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANISATIONS — Ms Crozier presented a Report from the Family and Community Development Committee on the Handling of Child Abuse by Religious and Other Non-Government Organisations (including Appendices), together with Transcripts of Evidence. Ordered to lie on the Table and the Report to be printed. Ms Crozier moved, That the Council take note of the Report. Debate ensued. Question — put and agreed to. * * * * * PAPER PURSUANT TO STATUTE — The following Paper, pursuant to the direction of an Act of Parliament, was laid on the Table by the Clerk: Victorian Inspectorate — Report, 2012-13, pursuant to section 30Q of the Surveillance Devices Act 1999 in relation to Victoria Police. 4 MEMBERS’ STATEMENTS — Statements were made by Members pursuant to Standing Order 5.12. 5 AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY — Mr Somyurek moved, That this House calls on the Abbott Federal Government to immediately move to secure the future of the Australian automotive manufacturing industry, and the thousands of jobs that go with it, by announcing its commitment to co-invest in this critical industry. Debate ensued. Debate ensued. Mr Leane moved, as an amendment, That “3 September 2013” be omitted with the view of inserting in its place “10 December 2013”. Debate continued. On the motion of Mr Tarlamis, the debate was adjourned until later this day. 9 BUSINESS POSTPONED — Ordered — That the consideration of Notice of Motion, General Business, No. 663, be postponed until later this day. 10 UNCONVENTIONAL GAS FOSSIL FUELS — Mr Barber moved, That this House calls on the State Government to implement a permanent ban on the exploration or development of unconventional gas fossil fuels across Victoria. Debate ensued. On the motion of Mr Guy (for Mr O’Donoue), the Bill was read a first time and ordered to be read a second time on the next day of meeting. Business having been interrupted at 6.30 p.m. pursuant to Sessional Orders — 13 ADJOURNMENT — Mr Guy moved, That the House do now adjourn.
