Tuesday 10th December 2013, 12.30pm – 4.00pm
Join EBLEX, Independent Nutritionist Debbie Brown and Chris Harrison from West Lakeland
Vets for this upland meeting to explore suckler cow nutrition and feeding the weaned calf. We
will look at the nutritional requirements of the suckler cow throughout the year and feeding
options such as silage, straw, fodder crops etc but with a focus on making more of grass. A
practical body condition scoring demo will be held as well as understanding your silage analysis
and what this means for supplementary feeding. The final session will look at options for feeding
the weaned calf depending on the target market, either as a store, finished animal or as a
replacement heifer for the herd.
