Objective
To Apply knowledge of the earth and its materials to 1.) Benefit a
business organization, 2.) Enhance human knowledge. This role could be
executed in business, academia or government.
Career Summary
More than 25 years of years experience as a professional geologist with
an international reputation for research and publications. More than 30
publications in national and international scientific journals, two
books, and four videotape productions. Cited in Who's Who in America,
and in the S. and S.W., as well as the East, and American Men and Women
of Science for contributions in the geology of the Brevard zone in
eastern North America, and the Motagua fault zone in Guatemala, as well
as for new concepts in plate tectonics.
A copy of my CV Resume is available upon demand. My expertise is in the
field of geology with an emphasis in the area of oil and gas exploration
and production, which will probably be the topic of most interest to
you, especially as a second opinion expert witness on reservoir
analysis. More specifically, my basic specialties are in the fields of
structural geology and petrology which have been applied to detailed
regional studies in tectonophysics. However, in the past I have also
been involved in a number of large and diversified projects that have
included nuclear power plants, dams, tunnels, and some extremely
diversified and unusual applications of natural zeolites for domestic,
commercial and industrial problems.
15 years experience in the exploration for hydrocarbons.
1½ years of production geology with The Superior Oil Company.
Responsible for about 15 on-shore and off-shore fields in south
Louisiana. Special field studies of two old fields were made. New
reserves were found in Vermilion 76.
Regional exploration trend mapping in Marg. A. and Planulina trend in
S.E. Louisiana.
Detailed exploration mapping on several salt domes in south
Louisiana.
13½ years as an exploration geologist. Raised venture capital of
$1,000,000.00 to start an exploration company. Bought and generated wild
cat prospects and then sold them to the exploration industry. One
discovery.
International consultant and trainer to teach people in the
exploration industry how to explore for hydrocarbons. Produced a six
hour video tape to demonstrate these methods. Wrote a book titled
"Principles of Subsurface Geology" to be used with this work.
Consultant for major construction projects:
North Anna Nuclear Power Station: At the time this was one of the
largest nuclear power plants in the United States. Three papers were
written regarding foundation problems from a fault zone under the
reactors, their potential hazard to the facility, and what their
regional relationships may indicate to a possible earthquake belt in
that area that could possibly affect that plant at a future time.
A 100 foot high water catchment dam for the city of Boyertown
Pennsylvania. Two reports were written for work detailing the presence
of a fault under the dam.
Evaluation of a site for the drilling of a ½ mile long tunnel near
Easton, Pennsylvania. The tunnel was to be used to test new underground
drilling equipment made by the Ingersoll Rand Company. Their projected
tunnel was parallel to and directly underneath a thrust fault zone.
Research Specialties: Structural geology, igneous and metamorphic
petrology, regional tectonics, and plate tectonic theory, post Jurassic
tectonism, major fault zones.
16 years teaching experience: 7 years as a Teaching Assistant and 9
years at the professor level. Courses taught were both at the
undergraduate and graduate level. They include standard introductory
courses in Physical and Historical Geology, other entry level courses as
well as more advanced courses in Structural Geology, Petrology,
Tectonics, and Thesis. Supervised 3 other staff members as acting head
of the Department of Geology for one semester.
International Consultant for Training Consultants International in
Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Taught two training courses for the exploration
industry. Basic Petroleum Technology: which is an overview of the
entire exploration industry covering history, engineering, geology, and
economics. It is designed for non technical personnel. Basic Petroleum
Geology: is designed to reprogram a technical person that is coming out
of academia or some other technical industry to adjust to the
exploration industry more quickly. This information has also been
written and designed for a training program on a CD ROM for an
international service company in the exploration industry.
3 years as a trainer and Technical Director for a small zeolite company
that used that mineral to solve complex odor problems. Produced new
product lines for the company, developed a new technology for using this
mineral to remove severe odors from many unusual and complex problems.
Lectured to many groups around the world, especially in the U.S.,
Canada, Great Britain, and Australia about this material and technology.
Three one hour video tapes were made to help explain this technology.
Selected Professional Accomplishments
Discovered new reserves, 40 feet of pay in the Reeves Field in Allen
Parish, Louisiana. Field studies also assisted in the discovery of new
reserves in the Vermillion 76 Field in off-shore Louisiana.
30+ publications, based upon my research in national or international
journals or other important publications. Two books. Three two hour
video tapes on exploration methods in the oil and gas business. Three
one hour videotapes explaining what zeolites are, how they can be used
to remove odors, and new directions that they can be used in for various
types of medical applications.
Produced a new product line with zeolites by putting it in a hard gel
capsule to be used by ostomates (People that have had much of their
intestines removed by surgery so that their body wastes are deposited in
a small plastic pouch on the side of their body). The zeolite was used
to deordorize the pouch.
Solved many different types of complex odor problems involving
buildings such as houses, office buildings, nursing homes, hospitals,
and ocean liners or vehicles with dead bodies in them or with rotting
food or drugs, mildew, large indoor animal displays, sick building
syndrome, glue and pesticide odors, print shops, smoke damage, etc.
Employment History
Geological Consultant, 1985 - Present, Lafayette, Louisiana and Houston,
Texas.
Subsurface exploration for oil and gas. Selling prospect ideas to
industry. International Consultant to present training programs for
people in the exploration business, and the zeolite industry. Wrote
books to go along with both of those programs. University of Texas at
Austin, Energy Training Center located in Houston, Texas, Petroleum
Extension Service (PETEX). Coordinated a wide range of schools in the
oil and gas industry, and trained in portions of them that involved
geology and exploration. Extensive technical writing.
