Classroom Management Plan
ED/518--Whitsett
I. Mission
My mission for this upcoming year is to give student’s structure and organization in the art
classroom, to efficiently utilize class time and to facilitate creativity. Classroom management
should be planned and controlled so that creativity has free reign within the work. Freedom of
individuality, emotions and inventiveness are encouraged in order for the students to convey
their own thoughts and philosophies. Through their classmates, students will gain appreciation
for cultural diversity. Study and appreciation of Art History, and Fundamentals of Art are just as
important as the art process. This will also expand their knowledge of different cultures and
their environment.

IV. Classroom Procedures
A. Daily Routine
a.
Entering/Leaving: When entering the classroom, the students will quietly
take a seat and start on the bell ringer. When leaving the room, tables will
be called so students can leave in an orderly fassion.
b.
Throwing away papers: If a student needs to throw away paper, he or she
must do it at the end of class. If a student chooses to not follow this rule
five points will be deducted from the current assignment.
c.
Bell ringers: Students will be in charge of doing their bell ringer
everyday. They will be projected on the E.L.M.O at the beginning of class
and all answers will be put in their sketchbook. Wreck this journal will be
collected for grading and progress once a month.
d.
Tardiness: If a student is tardy he or she will have to answer to the
principal when the tardiness becomes excessive. Tardiness can occur if
the student forgot something for class and was sent back to their locker to
get it.
B.
Make-up Work Procedures, Late/Missed Assignments:
Make-up work for an unexcused absence will not be accepted. With a
documented excused absence, make-up work will be received in the form of a
well-developed drawing or two-page report on the subject missed. Due to the
setup and materials of each assignment, the lesson cannot always be recreated,
depending on the day or process stage that was missed. It is the student’s
responsibility to communicate with the instructor to establish the form of makeup

work and the date due. The student has one week to turn in makeup work or
complete original assignment.
C.
Homework:
Students will turn in any work directly to the teacher. The instructor will keep
grades in a grade book as well as in S.T.I.
D.
Hall Passes
Hall passes will be handed out by the teacher accordingly, with only one student
out at a time.
E.
Seating
Assigned seating will be established the first week of class; the instructor reserves
the right to change the seating chart at any given time.
F.
Lab Procedures
As the students come into the classroom, they begin their Bell ringer sketching.
The teacher calls roll and asks if there are any questions from the previous
activity. The instructor will begin by introducing, demonstrating or reiterating the
lesson for the day. The students will remain in their seats until instructed to gather
certain materials, one table at a time. While working, the students will be allowed
to talk quietly to each other, if the noise level gets too loud they will stay silent for
the remainder of the period. Students raise their hand if the instructor is needed
for further explanation or execution of the process. The instructor continuously
walks around the room to each student, to make sure they are following directions
and using tools and materials properly. With ten minutes left in class, the teacher
tells the students to find a good stopping place in their work. With five minutes
left, the students are told to clean up the materials and wipe off the tables.

parents/guardians will be notified.
