Instructions for Completing Hazardous Substance Inventory
The Essential Steps
The essential steps to becoming compliant with the hazardous substances regulations are listed below:

List hazardous substances

Estimated maximum quantity likely to be held on site.
2.
Locate SDSs
Locate the safety data sheet (SDS) for each hazardous substance. If any are missing, contact the supplier to obtain them.
3.
Find the hazard
Use the SDS to note the following from the hazardous substance inventory:
classification
All hazard classifications
Recommended PPE.
4.
Check threshold tables
Find the threshold quantity for each of the key controls (approved handler, location test certificate, fire extinguishers, signage
and evaluate if thresholds
and emergency response plan).

5.
Take action
Make sure you have implemented the controls in your workplace to ensure the safety of your staff and business.
