COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS RESOURCES
Common Core Standards - Nationwide Page: http://www.corestandards.org/ (NOTE - the
Common Core documents that are available at this site are slightly different than California's! So
only use this page for general information. Use California's page to look at California's version
of the Common Core State Standards - link below).

NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS

standards/performance expectations, as well as to the appendices):

REMINDER that the 6th - 8th grade standards will be presented in two different ways:
- by discipline (e.g., 6th - earth, 7th - life, 8th - physical)
- integrated within each grade (e.g., 6th will have earth, life, physical; so will 7th and 8th)
The Science Expert Panel is still currently working on these.

Summary: Engage the students in discovering the information, ask them to think about their
thinking, explain their reasoning, provide evidence for their answer / why they think what they
think. Engage them, and have them engage each other, in academic conversations.
