A GILDED AGE CHRISTMAS
AT STAATSBURGH STATE HISTORIC SITE
STAATSBURG, NY (11/25/13) – The halls are decked at Staatsburgh State Historic Site in
prepation for Gilded Age Christmas. Come experience a Christmas past here in the Hudson
Valley. The site opened its doors for the holiday season on November 21, and will be open
Thursday through Sunday, from Noon to 4pm (closed Thanksgiving Day) through December 31.
The site will also be open Monday, December 30 and Tuesday, December 31.
On Sundays in December, from 1- 4pm, families are
invited to solve a “history mystery” in the Holiday
Whodunit. Ideal for children ages 6-11 years old, the
young detectives will interview costumed interpreters,
who portray Gilded Age houseguests and servants. The
Holiday Whodunit has become an annual tradition for
many families. Come enjoy the holiday decorations and
crack another Gilded Age case. All children who submit a
guess as to “whodunit” will be entered in a drawing for a
prize.
Each holiday season, children enjoy searching for the miniature
houses of Mistletoe Mouse tucked into various rooms in the mansion
during the holidays. Mistletoe Mouse returns this season, and the site
is offering two hands-on workshops during the school vacation.
Saturday, December 21st, 2-3:30pm and Friday, December 27th,
10:30-12pm kids ages 6 – 12 can make their own Mistletoe Mouse
houses out of boxes and various craft materials. A parent or guardian
must accompany child; $5 fee per child. Reservations strongly
recommended (845) 889-8851.
Don’t forget! Staatsburgh’s beautiful museum shop is a favorite stop
for many Hudson Valley shoppers. The shop features a unique array
of jewelry, books, scarves, keepsakes and gifts. The shop will be open
during all touring hours.

Site admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors; children 12 and younger are free. The site and the
Ogden Mills & Ruth Livingston Mills Memorial State Park are located on Old Post Road in
Staatsburg, off Route 9 between Rhinebeck and Hyde Park. The historic site is one of six sites
