Hello little lambs families, We have had yet another busy month in our room exploring our self help skills, the children are encouraged to put their shoes on, dress themselves while role-playing in home corner, pour their own drinks, assist with the setting of our table for meals and clearing away their own scraps, plates and cups into the correct bucket, the children have been doing a great job at this, they have also attempted to serve their own sandwiches using tongs but the children have found this a little difficult so we added tongs into home corner so that the children can practice using the tongs. This also strengthens the children’s hand muscles, during the month of April we will continue encouraging self help skills, we will also be doing art and craft activities to celebrate Easter we will also be making our own Easter bonnets for our Easter parade on the 21st of this month, we hope to see you there. Just a reminder that it is getting cooler so warm clothes and closed in shoes will need to be worn and if your child is toilet training some extra warm clothes may need to be packed to cover for this. We would also like to welcome Kobe, Harry, kyliehleah, Jordyn, Zade and Emma to our room, and good luck to summer, Hannah, Sam and Riley O who have transitioned to the tree frogs room, some of the older children in our room will be starting the transition process to the tree frogs room, if you have any questions please come and see us. Until next month Miss Cloe and Miss Robyn Tree Frogs Newsletter What an exciting couple of months we have had in the Tree Frogs Room! Some new faces have joined us and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Jordan and to the Bushkidz family. Amy and I have been encouraging the children to use their: Language: Using their manners, communicating with their peers and staff, to verbalise own name and the exploration of new words. Self Help: Washing their hands, putting their scraps in the bin, putting their drink bottles away, helping to pack up, encourage children to wear their hats outside, and toilet training. Gross motor: Amy and I have been helping some children with their climbing skills. Thus enabling the children’s confidence to develop, helping them to balance and climb apparatuses un-aided. Sensory- Visual: Colour recognition, Shape recognition, Animal recognition and fruit and vegetable recognition. Social and Emotional: To participate in activities, recognition of self and others feelings, to express anger in words rather than actions, to separate from parents and to form a relationship with staff and other children. The children are really excelling within these areas and are beginning to achieve these goals without any teacher prompts, WELL DONE! Miss Vicki and Miss Amy Poddy Calves Hello to everyone in the poddy calves room. As you are aware I am leaving Bushkidz and my last day will be Thursday 7th April 2011. I have enjoyed spending the year learning and loving the children within the group and will miss you all dearly. Miss Nicole will be the new teacher in the room and she will commence from Monday 11th April. As we move into April we will be commencing our Easter crafts and enjoying the Easter festivities. The children will be busy making their Easter bonnet hats for our Easter parade and Easter party. The children have been developing confidence, self esteem and independance through self help tasks like making our beds, packing our bags, putting our shoes on, serving our lunch, pouring our drinks. We have also been focusing on our colours and being able to name and recognise them. I hope you all have a fantastic year and I will see you all when I visit. Miss Terri, Miss Chloe and Poddy Calf children. Kindergarten Newsletter - March I wish to give a big Welcome to all the new children who have started in the Kindy Room this last month. And hope they enjoy their time at Bushkidz Kindergarten. We have had a busy month we are preparing props and doing story maps to do the play of Goldilocks and The Three Bears. At the same time we have been looking at Dinosaurs including drawing a ‘Bushasaurs’ a special dinosaur found only at Bushkidz. The children have made dinosaurs out of boxes and we went on a dinosaur hunt looking for (cardboard) bones in the sandpit and we made a fossil out of plaster of paris. We have started learning our letter sounds and the children are getting good at recognising and making the sounds, so far we have learnt up to ‘m’ – Missy mouse likes cheese and goes “mmm” We are having a market day on 15th May for flood relief and our room is organising a $2.00 jar stall and are asking if parents could donate a jar full of popcorn, lollies, pencils, and hairclips, anything to sell and help raise money. Show and tell boxes will be going home soon, your child is asked to bring something back in the box to show the other children. Books are welcome at anytime or if something extra special has happened like photos from a special holiday, they can bring it along to show the children. Thank you to all the parents who dressed their children in green and wore crazy hair for our fun days. Until next time, Mrs Sharon Munce& Mrs Jo Lukins GOANNAS Easter is just around the corner, so for the next couple of weeks we will be busy with our Easter activities. I will be sitting down with the School children sometime this week and we will be deciding exactly what they would like to do in the way of Easter Activities. Because Easter is so late this year and I am going on Annual Leave in 2 weeks we will be starting out Easter Activities a little earlier than usual. As I have been relieving in the Tree Frogs for the past couple of weeks I have not had much of any opportunity to spend time with the children but I know that they have been kept busy with lots of different activities. I did however spend some time with them last week and they were heavily involved with making scoobies and modeling the pipe cleaners into different creations. They even made me a new pair of glasses out of pipe cleaners, the only bad thing was that they made the glasses with three eye holes. Happy Birthday to all the Goannas who have had birthdays this Month.
