KNOW INDIA PROGRAMME FOR INDIAN DIASPORA YOUTH
Applications are invited from Indian Diaspora youth in the age group of 18-26 years of
age for the following Know India Programmes (KIP) organized by the Ministry of
Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India, in partnership with the States of Punjab
and Orissa:
24th KIP: 29th August to 18th September 2013 (Punjab) – Last date for submission of
application to High Commission: 1st July 2013.
25th KIP: 23rd December 2013 to 112th January 2014 (Orissa) - Last date for submission
of application to High Commission: 15th September 2013.
Non Resident Indian citizens are not eligible for applying for the programme.
Minimum qualification required for applying is graduation or studying for graduation. The
applicants should be able to converse in English.
About 35 Indian Diaspora Youth in the age group of 18-26 years, are selected for each
programme. Selected participants are provided with full hospitality in India during the
duration of the programme. 90% (ninety percent) of the total cost of air ticket (at lowest
economy excursion fare) is refundable to the participants on successful completion of
the programme by them.
The content of the programme broadly includes the following:

Presentations on the country, political process, developments in various sectors,
Interaction with faculty and students at a prestigious University/College/Institute,
Presentation on the industrial development and visits to some Industries,
Visit to a village to better understand the typical village life,
Exposure to Indian media,
Interaction with NGOs and organizations dealing with women affairs,
Visit to places of historical importance/Monuments,
Taking part in Cultural programmes,
Exposure to yoga,
Call on high dignitaries, which may include President of India, Chief Election
Commissioner of India, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, and Ministers
in-charge of Overseas Indian Affairs, Youth Affairs and Sports
