It enables highly qualified scholars not resident in Germany to spend extended periods of research in Germany and promotes the ensuing contacts. German Chancellor Fellowship Programme for prospective leaders from the People’s Republic of China Within the framework of the German Chancellor Fellowship Programme, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation will for the year 2009 offer young leaders from the People’s Republic of China the opportunity to conduct a project of their own choice during a one year stay in Germany. Applicants from all professional and academic areas are welcome, especially from the humanities, social sciences, law and economics. In addition to the project which will be conducted with a host of their own choice (in a university, an enterprise, an administration, the media etc.) the fellows will have the opportunity to gain an insight into German politics, economy, culture and society by the means of an extensive additional programme. Alumni followups will be continued after the fellowship has been completed. The programme is established under the patronage of the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany and aims at strengthening German-Chinese relations in the long-term. Application requirements: Citizenship of the People’s Republic of China Bachelor or comparable academic degree, completed less than twelve years prior to the start date of the fellowship (September 1st of the year following the application) Evidence of leadership qualities in the previous academic and professional achievements A career planning that emphasizes international and especially German relations. This call for applications is for a fellowship period from September 2009 - August 2010, preceded by an intensive language course of up to three months in Germany.
