It is recognized that other related duties not specifically mentioned may also be performed, and that not all responsibilities may be carried out depending on operational needs. POSITION PURPOSE: Under limited supervision, provides counseling, psychotherapy and psychological assessment and testing services to clients. The incumbent interprets psychometric tests and develops diagnoses. He/she provides clinical/administrative supervision to professional and paraprofessional staff. He/she may act as a liaison with the Department of Mental Health Services and other mental health providers. He/she will actively participate as member of the Senior Management Team and several multidisciplinary teams within CCMHS. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES: Assessment – Conduct in-depth psychological evaluations. Diagnoses the type and severity of a client syndrome and recommends appropriate treatment. Compile background information from referral, family and client. Direct the administration, scoring, interpretation, evaluation and recording of a wide range of projective and objective psychological test batteries. Conduct comprehensive clinical interviews with client and/or families; may assist other staff with conducting interviews and gathering information. Properly diagnoses the type and severity of the clients clinical syndrome based on accurate assessment of the presenting symptoms and problems. Recommend appropriate treatment modalities, priorities and sequences. Accurately diagnoses the treatment setting based on diagnoses, the assessment of other information, psychometric test results and social histories. Document psychological assessment results and treatment recommendations according to established practices. Case Review – Conduct advanced level psychosocial assessments/evaluations; utilizes information from other service providers, physicians, team members and client to develop a comprehensive ITP or IRP. Thoroughly assembles, analyzes and interprets all data to identify available resources for inclusion into the ITP or IRP). Appropriately utilizes assessment information for court depositions, legal proceedings and to make client eligibility determinations on SSI and Medicaid matters. Conduct periodic reassessment reviews to determine continued eligibility and/or appropriateness for services. Thoroughly assembles, analyzes and interprets new/updated information for each client. Thoroughly identifies changes needed and updates client/family status accordingly and promptly notifies all concerned parties. Effectively secures additional and/or continuing services. Service Delivery – Conduct in-depth, individual and family therapy. Provide therapeutic services according to established practices. Provide treatment in accordance with clients treatment plan. Analyzes results of treatment efforts for indications of therapeutic progress and alters therapeutic approach and treatment plan accordingly. Accurately documents the progress of therapy in relation to the clients active treatment plan. Refers the client to ancillary services as needed during therapy. Crawford Consulting and Mental Health Services May 05 Team Work – Provide input to treatment team on individual treatment plans, treatment planning and treatment implementation. Appropriately facilitate multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings either as a participant or leader. Provide input concerning the appropriate treatment setting for the client. Provide input, direction and technical assistance to the staff in the planning, design and implementation of psychotherapy based treatment. Provide appropriate instruction to staff managing the Intake and Community Based Intervention functions. Regularly monitors the planning and administration of behavior modification strategies for their conformity to established policies and practices and ethical principles. Meet on a regular basis with staff to discuss service delivery and/or problems or to discuss new/revised policies and procedures. Training – Provide in-service training for staff. Correctly identify training needs of staff. Prepare and present appropriate instructional material that meets level and needs of the staff. Provide appropriate individual training to staff in agency procedures or other applicable areas. Quality Assurance – Evaluations program for effectiveness for quality improvement purposes using applicable measures and input. Study and recommend to administrative and clinical personnel ways for improving service delivery based on data of program effectiveness. Participate in planning the direction/goals for psychological services. Establish and maintain good working relationships with other agencies by regular communication and cooperation on joint issues. Adequately monitor staff to ensure that the client’s needs are met. Periodically review reports for appropriateness, consistency, utilization and compliance. Routinely reviews, evaluates and approves all psychological assessments conducted by authorized staff. EDUCATION Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work. PHD EXPERIENCE LICENSES Current DC and/or MD license to practice psychology (may be temporary, provisional, or permanent).
