Lunch (door opens 10am); Saturday 18th July, WELNEY WATER GALA (with Molly Dancing, raft races, history displays and much more). Molly Dancing was the form of dance used by the ploughboys of Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, particularly in the Fens, but died out in the early 20 th Century. Molly Dancing is rather like Morris Dancing – with attitude! Our leader will be Gordon Phillips of the Ouse Washes Mollys. The illustrated history talks are by local historian, Mike Petty. Their full titles are:1) Reflections on the Ouse Washes: a history of the Old and New Bedford Rivers and their area; 2) Researching the story of the Ouse Washes: how to discover sources for the history of the area in libraries, museums, archives or on your computer at home; 3) The Ouse Washes people and places: an exploration of the people and communities who live alongside the Old and New Bedford Rivers.
