BIOGRAPHY
Hailing from the metro area of sunny Perth, W.A, Chaos Divine was born with guitarist Simon Mitchell and
the formation of the band, Devoid in the late 90’s: a heavy outfit consisting of Simon Mitchell, Michael Kruit
and Ryan Felton as a late entrant. Following the departure of 3 of Devoid’s members, a new line up was
born and thus came the creation of Chaos Divine.
Chaos Divine’s sound is very much what the name suggests - At times a blaze of thick riffage with a brick
wall sized sound which seems to spiral into hypnotic melodies. Drawing influences from a vast array of
metal bands such as Meshuggah, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Dream Theater, Tool, Killswitch Engage, Strapping
Young Lad and Soilwork to name only a few, the sound of Chaos Divine seems difficult to categorise. The
mixing of brutal polyrhythmic metal and ambient contemporary rock music has seen the members of
Chaos Divine bring various styles into a unique chaotic fusion.
The first half of 2006 saw the band complete six months worth of work on our debut, self-released fivetrack EP entitled Ratio and release it in front of nearly 500 punters at the Amplifier Bar, Perth. The EP has
since been enjoying healthy reviews across Australia, as well as airplay on many national radio stations. In
December of 2006, Ratio was voted the #2 best Australian metal release of 2006 by the listeners of Triple
J’s, Full Metal Racket program from which the shows presenter, Andrew Haug, also voted Ratio as his #1

In the short span of the bands journey so far, Chaos Divine has supported and played with the likes of
Slayer (USA), Fear Factory (USA), Devil Driver (USA), Dark Tranquillity (SWE), Trivium (USA),
Daysend (NSW), Dreadnaught (VIC), Contrive (VIC), Five Star Prison Cell (VIC), A Secret Death
(QLD) and top Perth acts such as Subtruck, The Furor, Voyager, Heavy Weight Champ and Pathogen to
name only a few.
In 2007, Chaos Divine completed their very first Australian Tour which covered 11 shows across Perth,
Adelaide, Melbourne, Central Victoria, Sydney and Central Coast.
