MANAGEMENT OF URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE

In India, 300 million are living in urban areas, which constitute 30% of the total
population. They contribute over 60% of the country’s GDP. Urban areas grew
more rapidly at 31% during the last decade compared to overall growth rate of
18% at all India level. Urban areas are also experiencing higher growth rate of
employment opportunities around 38% compared to 16% at national level. A
large number of Indian cities and urban centers are experiencing deficiencies in
infrastructural facilities especially Transportation, Housing and Water.
This course discusses the above issues: How to plan, Maintain and manage
these infrastructural facilities for sustainable development of urban areas as well
as to provide better quality of life to the citizens.

levels.
Sectoral reforms with reference to Mass Rapid and other Urban Public
Transport and other services
Infrastructure management, financing options- PPPs, SPVs, etc.
Exploration of Technology and IT in improving service deliveries
