COURSE OUTLINE MANAGEMENT OF URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE Faculty: T V Ramanayya PGP Term: V Credit: 3 In India, 300 million are living in urban areas, which constitute 30% of the total population. They contribute over 60% of the country’s GDP. Urban areas grew more rapidly at 31% during the last decade compared to overall growth rate of 18% at all India level. Urban areas are also experiencing higher growth rate of employment opportunities around 38% compared to 16% at national level. A large number of Indian cities and urban centers are experiencing deficiencies in infrastructural facilities especially Transportation, Housing and Water. This course discusses the above issues: How to plan, Maintain and manage these infrastructural facilities for sustainable development of urban areas as well as to provide better quality of life to the citizens.
