To All Members
Enclosed are the Official Sales Entry Forms for the Association Sales. All Classes of entries can use the same type
of form, but it is important to use only ONE FORM PER CLASS OF SHEEP – this will ensure your entries go in the
correct section of the Sales Catalogue.
Please pay particular attention to the information box at the top right of the entry form. If you are short of
entry forms, more can be downloaded from the website or requested from the Office, and we do accept
photocopies.
The Entry Form must be completed in full with all correct information included else your entry will
be refused and returned, this must include sire and sire of dam details which is now compulsory for
all classes
If you wish to sell Females then payment must be enclosed, if payment is not received at the time of entry,
then your entry will be refused and returned.
Anyone wishing confirmation that sales entries have arrived should send a stamped addressed envelope for
acknowledgement. Entry forms may be scanned and emailed and these entries will be acknowledged by
email.
CATALOGUES: These will be sent out automatically to Vendors by the Auctioneers. The office will not hold a
supply of Association catalogues and requests for catalogues should go to the relevant Auctioneers. Telephone
Numbers are provided below for this purpose.
COMMISSION: Association commission for 2015 Sales is 0.5%
SUBSTITUTES: One sheep per vendor may be substituted. A pro-forma will be available on the day, which
must be completed by the vendor and displayed on the relevant pen. The Auctioneer and Chief Steward
must be informed.
Please pay particular note to the General Information and Conditions of Entry as these will be strictly adhered to.
Any sheep, which are inspected and subsequently rejected, must be removed immediately from the Mart. There
is no appeal procedure.
NB. Due to Health and Safety Guidelines, the Association has banned the use of dips and water
sprays at the Auction Premises.

General Information which applies to ALL Sales
1. USE ONE ENTRY FORM PER CLASS. The entry form must be returned by the closing date shown and no responsibility
will be accepted by the Secretary for Entry Forms not received in the mail. If confirmation of acceptance is required
please enclose a S.A.E. NO LATE ENTRIES CAN BE ACCEPTED
2. All sales will be pre-balloted in public at the Auction Mart at 12 noon (approx) on the day following the closing date of
each sale. Entries will then be catalogued in sale order.
3. A proportionate number of sheep from 2014 will be taken from the beginning and the end of the entries forward in that
year and placed in the middle of each section in 2015 (approx 1 vendor per 100 sheep) e.g. 500 sheep entered in 2014
= first five and last five vendors forward placed in the middle in 2015. ** This rule does not apply for the Carlisle
Sale Ram Lamb Ballot for 2015 due to change in sale structure (see next page)**
4. An entry fee of £6.00 (inc. Vat) is payable on all female entries at sales in England, Scotland and Wales. If this is not
included with the entry form, entries will be returned and the closing date may be missed. There is no entry fee for
rams.
5. There is no entry fee for females in Dispersal Sales. Ewe lambs in a dispersal sale will be subject to normal inspection
procedures. All dispersals will be sold at the beginning of the females.
6. 2015 Upset Price. Males £100
Females £100
7. All sheep must be penned by 9.00 a.m. or 1 hour prior to sale time. This includes females whose sale start later in the
day.
8. All sheep must be sold in catalogue order with the exception of the Champion sheep which can be sold anywhere within
the members run of sheep.
9. Sheep can only be entered for one sale. Any sheep entered for a sale and not forward cannot be re-entered for another
sale.
10. One substitute sheep per vendor will be allowed. Ear numbers will be checked prior to sheep entering the ring. Those
which do not tally with the entry form will be rejected.
11. Only catalogued sheep will be allowed in the market.
12. All sheep are subject to inspection on sale day by Association Inspectors. Vendors or their representative should try to
be present during these inspections.
13. Sheep which are rejected will have the Association Logo cut from the tag, head marked and must be removed
immediately from the Auction Mart.
14. Any sheep found by the inspectors to be cudspilling will retain its tag but will be removed from the auction.
15. If a ram is found by the inspectors to be marginally incorrect in the testicles he will be given an identification mark by
the inspectors and the vendor must notify the Auctioneers and have the fault announced in the ring at the time of sale
and warrant the ram a stock getter. If the vendor is not prepared to warrant the ram a stock getter, its tag will be cut
out and it must be removed from the auction mart.
16. Any shearling sheep considered to be marginal in the mouth but of good general conformation will be marked and
announced in the ring.
17. Lambs - If the definite edge of teeth can be felt, but otherwise the teeth are in contact with the pad, the lamb will be
red spotted. Bad mouthed lambs will still be rejected
18. No shaving or clipping of hair in front of the eyes will be permitted and the sheep will be removed from the auction
mart.
19. Black wool must be declared by the vendor at the time of sale but inspectors still have the right to reject sheep for black
wool so extensive as to seem not true to breed type. If black wool is not declared and found by the purchaser before it
leaves the market, the sheep can be returned on that day.
20. Inspectors decision is final.
21. Whilst all sheep are inspected by Association Officers, purchasers must satisfy themselves as to the correctness of any
animal which will be their responsibility on the fall of the hammer.
22. Ram Lambs not likely to be mature enough to be active at tupping time can be removed from the market.
23. Anyone found to have “ground” the teeth of any animal will be severely dealt with.
24. Any Vendor selling a ram from which semen has already been stored must advise the Auctioneers and have it
announced at the time of Sale.
25. If a ram is proved incapable of and ineffective at natural service, and is to be returned by the purchaser to
the vendor, notice must be given as soon as possible by the purchaser to the vendor and the ram must be
returned to the vendor no later than 5th December in reasonable condition. The purchaser agrees that the right
to reject the ram and return it under this clause will be lost if the purchaser has after purchase taken semen from the
ram
26. Any female should be guaranteed free of lamb at time of sale unless otherwise stated. Any female animal to be
returned should be returned by 5th January in reasonable condition. No claim should exceed the purchase price of the
animal.
27. Only rosettes awarded which apply to the sale you are attending will be allowed to be exhibited on vendors’ pens prior
to Sale. ALL other rosettes will be not permitted to be displayed.
NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THE SALES.
THE BALLOT WILL BE DRAWN BY THE ASSOCIATION & AUCTIONEERS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CHIEF
STEWARD ON THE DAY FOLLOWING THE CLOSE OF ENTRIES
THE CATALOGUES WILL BE PREPARED BY THE ASSOCIATION AND REQUESTS FOR CATALOGUES SHOULD BE

PERFORMANCE RECORDED SHEEP
As recommended by the association council the entry forms will include a box marked index again this year. This allows
those flocks who performance record their stock to give the overall performance index the individual sheep has achieved.
There is an increased demand from purchasers to help identify those sheep with the highest genetic potential for
improvement. In turn the financial contribution these sheep make to their own flocks is of increased importance.
We will also be holding an extra show class at Builth Wells NSA sale and Carlisle sale for recorded ram lambs.
The ram lambs shown in these classes must not have been entered in the open ram lamb class.
In addition for those members who performance record their sheep there is a requirement to tick either the Sire reference
Scheme - SRS or Performance recorded flock – PRF box on the entry form. The Sire Reference Scheme is a breeding
scheme with a number of members who aim to genetically improve their sheep by recording performance indicators such
as growth rates and muscle depths. By using artificial insemination they have genetic linkage and comparisons by having
at least some related sheep. This allows the index figures to compare all the sheep in the flocks enabling the highest
performers to be identified irrespective of which flock bred them. This breeding scheme welcomes new members. Please
contact the secretary for more details. The Performance recorded flocks detail the same information as those in the SRS
but don’t have a genetic linkage meaning the index figures only relate to the animals in the individual flock. This allows
the animals which are highest achieving in the flock to be identified but doesn’t give a direct comparison between flocks.
DISPERSALS
All Flocks advertising Dispersals will automatically loose their flock number
and prefix following the sale. No flock numbers or prefixes can be reinstated
