David Kills a Lion and a Bear Who was David? David was a young, cheerful shepherd. He cared for his parents’ sheep, took them to the hills where birds and animals gathered. He wore a loose, bright colored cloak and held a staff in his hand. He would carry a sling and small pebbles in a bag, so when the sheep would try to get away from there flock he would through them a pebble so they would return. He use to sing to himself, “The Lord is my Shepherd” He had a small harp, that he used to sit and play with, and produce sweet melodies. He sung hymns and praised the Lord. He listened to the birds and winds. Story… One day, there was a little sheep among the flock. He was playing and running and then one day got lost. David searched everywhere for the sheep, then found the poor sheep between a lion and the mouth of a bear. David remembered the power of God. He remembered that with God’s help, he could rescue the sheep from the mouths of the lion and bear. David ran towards them with his staff. The bear attacked him, but David struck it and killed it. David end up saving the sheep. The sheep was very happy and jumped over David’s shoulders and hands. David kissed and hugged the sheep as he slept in his hands, then took him back to the flock of the other sheep. Questions? Why wasn’t David afraid of the lion and bear? What did you do for your brothers and sisters who did not come last week? What do you intend to do for your friends who do not come to church, or get lost from the path of God’s righteousness? Conclusion Whenever we face a hard situation or difficult time in our lives, we must remember that God will always be with us. God will always give us the strength to face the hard times and to triumph as well. Memory Verse “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1)
