Adult and Peadiatric Advanced Life Support Training 2016 This year we are doing things a little different. Course Outline This year the course will be delivered in partnership with the clinical skills development service (CSDS) and Simulation Training on Resuscitation for Kids (SToRK) team. The course is accredited with: Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia & New Zealand (CICM) consistent with the Consensus Statement of the International Liaison Council on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) resuscitation guidelines. Aim Participants will be provided with the skills and knowledge in the principles of Adult and Paediatric Advanced Life Support so that they will be able to initiate an immediate response and perform effectively throughout the resuscitation process. Who should attend? ALS is a mandatory training requirement for all medical practitioners and Registered Nurses working within TCHHS. Delivery Structure The program is offered in a blended delivery approach – on-line learning and clinical skills stations and simulation scenario assessments. Time Requirements: 8 hours on-line learning – staff will need to be released for this time at least a week before their course. 8 hours face to face assessment by TCHHS Nurse Educators On-line training requirements Recognition and Management of the Deteriorating Paediatric Patient - Core Skills (RMDPP-C) Recognition and Management of the Deteriorating Paediatric Patient - Advanced Skills (RMDPP-A) Advanced Life Support - Adult Those staff needing to recertify will be required to enrol each year into the on-line programs. They will have direct access to the exams which are placed throughout the programs. If they feel confident in their knowledge and skills they can attempt the quiz without redoing the whole program. If they are unsuccessful in the quiz they will be prompted to redo that section. The Nurse Education team will have access to information pertaining to the amount of attempts a participant requires to have to gain a pass mark. Course Cost – $150 –Advanced Life Support RMDPP-C and RMDPP- A are free How to Register: Staff to discuss appropriate time for study with Line Manager Staff member to register for all three on-line programs on CSDS website. Once they enrol for the Advanced Life Support – adult program they will receive an invoice for payment Staff member to submit a PD leave form, travel form and learning program registration form. Once approved by Line Manager, usual approval processes are to be followed and payment of invoice to occur by the participants cost centre.
